I found the following in the Dixon Evening Telegraph, Dixon IL from July 26, 1946:
"Miss Jean Elizabeth Burhenn daughter of Mrs. Lucy Buck and Donald Richard Berkerly, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Berkerly were united in marriage Saturday evening, July 20 at 7 pm at the Baptist parsonage, Rev. D G Smith, pastor, officiating.
For her wedding Jean wore a street length white dress with matching accessories.
Miss Iona Wells, a friend of the bride, was maid of honor, and was attired in a street length dress of white.
LeRoy Clayton served the groom as best man.
The immediate families attended the services.
The new Mrs. Berkerly, a graduate of A. T. H. S. in the class of ’44 has been employed as secretary in the office of Atty. W A Keho. Donald was just recently discharged from the US Navy after three years of service."
My father was LeRoy Clayton. I am hoping against hope that someone out there has a picture from this wedding of the wedding party. I have no pictures of my father and would absolutely love to see him all dressed up for a wedding.
