I hope this is not providing too much information! haha

I called the Probate Office (847-377-3386) at 9:00 this morning for 20 minutes and each time received a recording that they were either on the phone or busy. I then decided to call the Admin Office of the Circuit Court (847-377-3380) and after punching a number 3 different times, got a real voice that told me I needed to speak to someone in Probate and they, right away, started to transfer me to Probate.

I asked them not to do that because I'd been getting a recording for the past 20 minutes. I said I was "in town" and needed to know if it was worth my time to make a trip there to get a copy of a will. Then she said, sort of snippy, "well, what's the name?" I said I was interested in two, one for Dominick Moran and the other for Edward F. Moran. She said there was only one for Edward.

She began to hang up, and I again, stopped her and asked about the charges to get a copy. She said it was $2.00 for the first page, $.50 for the next 19 pages, and $.25 for the remaining pages. She said all I needed was to go to the Probate Division (giving me directions at that time... 18 N. County Street, Lower Level, Viewing Room), and give them the case number.

I then asked her for that and she gave it to me!!

My feelings about this exchange with her was that I was bothering her, however, she was willing to look it up to see if there was a will BECAUSE I was out of town. I lied about that however, so am not sure how she would have handled it otherwise, but am thinking she would have brushed me off.

I plan on going today to try to get a copy of that along with some death and marriage certificates. Will let you know how that goes!
