James Slavin, 75, caretaker at Williams park in Wauconda, Lake county, struck by an auto Wednesday evening in highway 176, 1 1/2 miles west of Wauconda, died in Condell Memorial hospital at Libertyville. Slavin was walking to a church for Christmas eve service. The driver, Phillip Strohl of RFD 2, McHenry, told police Slavin stepped in front of his car.

His stone reads Brother James Slavin and he is buried in Transfiguration Cemetery in Wauconda, IL. There is a photo of his stone at findagrave.com
