Carolyn,
Thanks so much for providing that information. My MORANs got here about 1840 and settled in what was known as Meehan's Settlement. Their children & their spouses:
Edward Francis, b. 1844 m. Margaret M. Sheils/Shields (my ggrandfather & ggrandmother)
Mary C., b. 1835 m. Thomas Dwyer
Bridget E., b. 1842 m. Thomas Murphy
John, b. 1846
Margaret Agnes, b. 1849
Catherine J., b. 1849
I have no information on the above John Moran and perhaps the Moran's you knew were decendents of his.
One of Bridget Moran & Thomas Murphy's children, Mary Agnes, married Thomas Francis Yore. Their son, Thomas Yore II, married Frances Manion in Wilmette in 1935. This Thomas was buried in 1950 in Lake Forest. Their children are possibly those that you may have known, however, I only have one child listed for them: Thomas Yore III.
In reference to Thomas Yore II: Baptised Jan 1, 1911, St. Mary Church, Everett, Lake forest, IL. Priest: Rev Francis J. Barry. He's buried St. Patrick Cemetary, Lake Forest, IL and his Godparents were Thomas Murphy & Mary McLoughlin.
My great grandfather, Edward (above) had 11 children and all of them married and lived in Waukegan. I have very little information on my great grandmother, Margaret Shiels/Shields. I've found her family name in census information in Lake County, but cannot connect her to them. Census information indicates she was born in Ohio about 1856, and I've yet to find her in Ohio either. However, I have a Patrick Shiels/Shields listed as a sibling of hers. I have no further info on him.
I don't know enough about the Murphy's so don't know if what you have might be one of them. Will check further.
And, no, I never lived in Lake Forest. My mother's cousin who married a Zach lived there. The Moran family farm was apparently on Telegraph Rd, but cannot find any documentation on that either!
