Thank you for the reply, but I don't think my family is connected to the Meehan's at all. They just lived in this tight little community in Illinois, Lake County, that was called Meehan's Settlement. I was assuming it was a town name, but maybe it was the name of the person who first settled there.

I wrote a letter to the Lake Forest, IL, Chamber of Commerce, yesterday, who has an online site which mentions Meehan's Settlement in the history section of the site. I'll let you know if I get any information on the Meehan family!
