For anybody that is interested, William Trezona died in the first quarter of 1880 in Hull on Humber, Yorkshire aged just 32. He was a mechanic at a printing works. This left Josephine with a real problem - Harry had just been born (his birth is registered in Hull) and she rushed back down to London with her young family. For some reason Harry's birth was registered again there!
He wasn't baptised at the time but just as he joined the army in 1894, he got baptised at Chobham, Surrey whilst living at the Gordon Boys Home. Between times, Josephine lived in Chelsea where Harry is registered on census night. But he was actually a visitor in Dulwich, Camberwell at 165 Crystal Palace Road. He is also found in the school records registered to that address, and his parentage is just Josephine.
So he joined the army and by 1901 is with the 2nd Battalion of the Middlesex Regiment with whom he fights the Boer War and comes home with the Queens South Africa Medal and the Kings South Africa Medal. His rank was a drummer. He might well leave the army at this point and he marries in 1904 as a musician. Then he rejoins the same regiment again (so gets a deceivingly high army number) and then gets his Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal after 12 years good soldiering. He then appears on the 1911 census with his wife and children (in Guadaloupe Barracks, Borden Camp, Hampshire UK. He goes to France on the outset of war and gets badly wounded (at Neuve Chapelle on 10 Mar 1915 I think) and gets invalided out the army a few days later.
After a brief stint in Twickenham, Middlesex, the family moves down to the South Coast near Brighton. Josephine dies there in about 1926. Harry dies there in 1946.
If anybody has a photo of Harry, I'll be glad to hear from you as I think I have two - but he is only identified as 'Tim' (a nickname). Be good to compare!
