They were most likely living in Illinois Township. People who did not own land but worked for those who did usually were given a house to live in on the property that they worked on. Your relatives probably were what was known as sharecroppers even though the occupation may have been listed as farmer or farm laborer and had to move from one house to another every few years or even perhaps every year as necessary.
