Here's what a Greve descendant gave me:
Edward Bitterberg
b 1856 IL
d 29 May 1895 or 1896 Raymond, Montgomery, IL
married 3 Jul 1888 Madison Co IL
Katherine (Greve) Bitterberg
b 3 Jul 1859 IL
d 16 Dec 1894 or 1895
issue - 2 children
Carrie born 14 Nov 1889 IL and died 22 Apr 1973
Henry born 18 Oct 1892 IL and died 9 May 1980
It's my understanding that Carrie and Henry were raised by their mother's sister Mary Caroline Bierman and her husband Barney with their 5 (of 10) children who lived to adulthood. A couple of the Bierman kids were born very close to the dates of Carrie and Henry. I was also told that since Carrie and Henry were so close to the Bierman kids that the younger generations of the Biermans were taught to refer to them as Aunt Carrie and Uncle Henry.
I know that Carrie and Henry are buried at Raymond but not sure which cemetery. The Greve's were Catholic but I'm not sure if Barney Bierman was too. If he was most likely the Biermans were buried in the Catholic cemetery of which Carrie and Henry probably were too; however, if Barney wasn't Catholic then the Biermans as well as Carrie and Henry could have been buried in the city cemetery at Raymond. Of course Carrie and Henry could have been buried on a family plot with their parents. Not knowing what religion Edward was I can't pinpoint the cemetery.
Neither Carrie nor Henry married and so that ends the descendants of Edward and Katherine Bitterberg.
