Yes, that is my Melinda Garrett. I have been researching the Garrett family. I would love to have any information on Melinda and her two husbands that you have. You can email me directly at mafreeman1@hotmail.com.
Thank you for your reply.

Did you ever get an answer for this? If your Malinda Garrett is the daughter of Johnson Garrett and Belinda Wilson, then I am her descendant through her daughter Martha Elizabeth Shelton, from her first husband Leonard Thomas Shelton, who died young. Martha Elizabeth and her first husband, my great-great-grandfather Henry Williams, are buried at Looney Springs as well. I'm going to be in the St. Louis area for Thanksgiving and Christmas, and hope to pay a visit to Looney Springs then. I can check it out if you still need the information.

For all interested in the Etherton Family in Jackson County, IL check out the following web site:

http://www.etherton.net/maingene.htm

While it does not appear to be currently active (last entry appears to have been made in 2000), the information provided some years ago is still of value, particularly the family tree charts and the individual pages that Joel Etherton prepared. Burials in the Etherton and Hagler Cemeteries are listed, although not in surname alphabetical order.

See also:

http://genealogytrails.com/ill/jackson/

This is an active site, with an energetic host.

Click on "Cemetery Records". Scroll down to "Etherton" to see the listings alphabetical by surnames.

See also "Shawcross GEDCOM Database" in the World Connect Project at http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/. At the home page, click on "World Connect Project" (left side of page). Then enter "Shawcross" as the database name in the box on the left side.

Tom Shawcross began his website some years ago while researching his own family. He then decided to include any person with Jackson Co. connections. His is probably the largest online database for people connected to Jackson Co. He is very careful about adding names and information only if he has proper source documentation (He will not accept data from undocumented online family trees---and sadly, there are tons of family trees on Ancestry with no source documentation).

Hope this is of some usefulness.

Charlie Ross

Perhaps you have already found your "Millhouse" information, but if not I found the following, some of which may not apply to your family:

In Cemeteries of Jackson County, Illinois, Vol. IV Murphysboro Cemeteries, Jackson County Historical Society, 1982 are the following "Millhouse" entries:

p. 27 (City Cemetery)
"MILLHOUSE, C. A., d. Nov 7, 1894, age 58y, 1m, 27d Confederate veteran"
"MILLHOUSE, Willie E., d. Mar. 16, 1886, age 19y, 7m, 5d, Son of C. A. & M.
Millhouse."

p. 33 (City Cemetery)
"MILLHOUSE, Hiram Martin, drowned Mar. 18, 1880, age 10y, 10d, son of John A. Millhouse"

p. 101 (Tower Grove Cemetery)
"MILLHOUSE, Peter, Mar. 5, 1828-May 20, 1897 Father"
"MILLHOUSE, Caroline, His Wife, Oct. 6, 1835 -Feb. 6, 1904 Mother"

p. 117 (Tower Grove Cemetery)
"MILLHOUSE, Martha E., Wife of Hiram Millhouse, June 14, 1847 - Nov. 21, 1910"
"MILLHOUSE, James Lee, Apr. 19, 1850 - Sep. 19, 1930. Born in England."

p. 201
"MILLHOUSE, Norman Luther, Son of Rev. & Mrs. Millhouse, Sep. 28, 1922"

There are no Millhouse surnames in Vol I, Makanda TS; Vol II Carbondale TS; Vol III, DeSoto and Elk TS; Vol V, Murphysboro TS Cemetery books published by the JCHS.

JCHS does have an extensive file of obituaries and family files. Their latest e-mail address is jchs@verizon.net.

I have no connection to the Millhouse family. Just saw your post while looking for messages that might be related to my family search.

Charlie Ross

Her first husband Harold Filker died in 1943 and she then married Furman Jackson. I cannot find anything on him. Josephine's parents Mike Matejewski married Anna Lesko and Anna was the sister to my father. I would like to find more on my father's line.

Thank you for your response. I already have Margaret in the 1880 census. She is 18. I was more concerned with Joseph (her husband). Apparently there were a few joseph Sniders and I am trying to determine which one is my direct ancestor.

His second wife was Martha Sutherland MILLHOUSE who died about 1880 but I don't know where she is buried either.

Sarah lived with Alex and Kate Mostall and is listed with them on the 1870 census.

Thank you so much.

Sandra

Thanks Fred,

I will check out the cemetery records.

Thanks again,

You have been most kind and helpful with this family. Another kind lady helped me make the connection between Noah Darr, to William and Elnora Millhouse Darr through his passport application.

You folks are great!

Sandy

Fred,

Oh shoot. You are correct. I misread my own data in hope. I am looking for Mildia or Mildred as this census is the last place I see her. She is my g-g-grandmother and I don't know where she ended her life.
