Booths in Henderson County

My 3rd great grandparents, Jessie & Annie (Richards) Booth moved from Mercer County, PA to Hancock County, IL abt 1841 then to Henderson County abt 1851. When Annie died in 1851, it appears the two youngest children, Nancy & Rufus, went to live with Annie's sister & husband, Asa & Sarah (Richards) Hart. From that point, I've lost track of where the rest of the family went. Any information about this family would be appreciated.

Also doing research on Booth family. Jesse, my husband's 3rd great grandfather is buried with first wife Anne Richards Booth in cemetery on highway 94 just north of Terra Haute, Henderson County, Ill. Number 2 wife, Mrs Nancy Ann Wilson believed married 12-11-1851 and first family didn't get along and older children left home. I know about Owen Kennard descendents as that is our line. Will exchange info. Owen went into the Union Army and later was in Iowa and Nebraska. He is buried at Randolph, Nebraska with his wife Nancy McClure whom he married at Burlington, Iowa 16 April 1867.

I don't show Asa & Sarah as having a child named Mary Jane, however I wouldn't rule it out as I might have incomplete information. I show they had only four children: Nancy born abt 1840; O Hart born about 1845; Harriet born about 1850; Homer also born about 1850. Does any of that information make a connection for you?

I went to the family History Center Saturday and copied the Illinois 1860 index. I find Owen, Asa and John Hart all as heads of households in township 8 N 5 W Henderson County.
I am not sure exactly where that would be or if it is near Sagetown (now Gladstone) which is listed as the birthplace
of Mary Jane Hart on a childs birth record. I went to the California Death Index and find Asa Scott Hart born 1/25/1858 in Illinois died 1950 in Alameda (92 years old). This may be
a sibling or cousin of my Alameda Harts. This looks like it could connect up. If you have access to the California Census
the answers may be there as to what happened to your missing family. It may be a while before I can back to look but I will let you know what I find. By the way, Asa's mother is listed as a Scott. Always hard to know if at 92 years of age the family got that info right. Linda

I appreciate your extra effort! Did the 1860 IL census show Asa's birthplace as Ohio? My Asa was supposedly born in Ohio in 1812. Perhaps the Asa you found is a son or grandson of the one I have recorded?

I do see something else that is curious: My Asa was married to Sarah Richards. Her mother was Nancy Mooney. Do you also have a connection to the Mooneys? Sarah was born in Pennsylvania

Yes! I have been trying to figure out who John C. Mooney
is as I find him in my Hart/Mcneil household in 1900 Benicia
City, California which is close to Oakland. I also find him on the baptismal certificate listed as Godparent for Mary Jane
Hart's son Daniel Mcneil. It says John and Margaret Mooney.
The date is 1890 and the place is Oakland, California.

I only had the index to the census and it doesn't say where anyone is born. I haven't looked at the actual census yet. It
only lists head of households. The actual census will list everyone in the house I believe and where they were born etc.

Dear Cindy, I now know that Mary Jane Hart is the daughter of
of Robert Hart and Jane? both born Ireland. I find them in the Kansas census Hunter Territory 1860 and Mary Jane born Sagetown Illinois is 1 year old. Again I still do not know how they connect to the Mooneys but am still curious.. Linda
