Surnames: Hart in Terra Haute, Henderson County IL 1850's
Cindy,
Just found your postings while looking for anything on Asa Hart. Wow!!! I'm so excited to have found you. Asa was my GGGgrandfather and I have found almost no info on him. I do however have the info on his children ( 5 in all) JohnR., Nancy, Owen A., Homer and Harriet (twins). I knew Asa was married to Sarah but did not know her last name. I too figured out he was born in Ohio in 1812 but have not found any trail. I did recently get a list of their graves in Terra Haute, IL. Asa bought 120 acres there in 1849. Owen was in the Civil War and my first cousin has his medals and such. Could we exchange more info? It's possible that Nancy Mooney (Sarah's mother) had remarried. Anyway email me and lets compare our info. Regards,

I just saw your post.I'm wondering if I ever got back to you.
I have only been able to find the connection to an Ann Mooney born 1816. Ireland whose son, John B. Mooney( also born Ireland) ,married Margaret Mcneil probably in New York in 1865, later moved to Susquehanna ,Pennsylvania. John and Margaret had the following children: Theresa b. 1866 New York, Helena b.1867 Pennsylvania, Thomas A born July 1869 in Pennsylvania, John C. Mooney Feb. 1872 also in Penn, Margaret b. June 2, 1875 Alameda, California and Augustus born Feb. 1880 ? in California. I'm not sure about the Henderson county connection yet continuing to work on it.

Sorry, I haven't seen your e-mail. Yes, Asa and his wife are buried in an area at the Terra Haute cemetery in the southeast corner. There are other Hart stones but I don't remember the names. I think there are about 4 family plots of Hart's but I don't remember any of the other name. My husband is descended from Jesse and Anne Booth thru Owen K, Booth. Mary Booth
