You sure are a hard lady to get ahold of I have left messages for you all
over the place. Yes, my gggrandfather was George Woodward Shanks, that is
where I am very curious about you saying George Walter Shanks. In Carmen
Cemtary there are three George W. Shanks' buried. One is my gggrandfather
and one his son. I am not sure who the third one is, but clues lead me to
believe he was in the Navy during the Civil War, because of what it says on
the headstone. I found the information on the head stone of all the GW
Shanks, in book on Henderson Co by Ross and? I don't have the information
right in front of me, Mick and I just returned from Vacation so I will pull
it all out in next couple of days and send to you. Reason I know for sure
mine is named George Woodward, is on his son James's death notice out of
the paper it says parents named George Woodward Shanks and Catherine
Caldwell. I have to assume the family wanted to be specific as to which
George Shanks. On the death notice it did not mention your Grandmother as a
child, I believe she would have been mentioned if she were a child, I think
anyway. I have a photo of a Shanks Reunion that was held sometime around
1927-29, in Carmen Illinois, it would not have a picture of either George
that we are speaking of but there are about 50 or more people in the photo,
and most of the faces are easily seen, I will attach to this and send.
Somehow I feel that these two Georges were together alot, because I even
found two marriages in Ky. several days apart of George W. Shanks. Anyway I
do have alot of information of George down to my children, but I think we
need to share our information and figure out who is who. It sure is good to
finally be in contact with you, I will put everything I have together and
together maybe we can figure out who is who. Oh, yes I sent for death
certificate on the George born in Nov. of 1819 and there is none, just a
record entry on Henderson Co. books. Anyway please let me hear from you,
somehow something tells me we are family.

Thanks for contacting me. Linda Shanks Tate
PS... on yes I have alot of connections to Henderson Co. and alot of names
that appear there in its history.
