Malissa Shaw married first, Jesse Howard, 2nd Henry Brenneman, 3rd Joseph McKenzie.
She had 12 children, she lived in the Stillwell area most of her life. She was born in Ohio in 1831, but married in Illinois, Hancock Co 2 times, and Henry Brenneman she married in Qincy, Adams County, Illinois. All her husbands were Hancock county men. Henry Brenneman had a farm outside of Stillwell. Malissa and Joseph had a store and post office, hat shop, and Malissa ran a hotel all in the 1880's. She died in 1897. Really need some info if anyone knows who Malissa's parents are. Her full name was Artellia Malissa Shaw, she went by Artie , but mostly by Malissa. Jesse Howard's parents were Leven and Tabitha Dicon Howard. Jesse Howard had a brother Cornelius Howard who was murdered on his farm in 1868 in Hancock County, Ill. Henry Brenneman came from Pennsylvania in about 1850. He was married to Barbary or Barbara Unknown, also from Pennsylvania. they had 11 children, most of whom married Stillwell/Illinois area people. Then Henry and Malissa had 7 more children who married Stillwell area people. Last was Joseph McKenzie, he came from Kentucky, first married to Ellen Pike from Kentucky, they had 9 children, 7 of whom were born in Hancock County, Illinois area. Then Joseph and Malissa had 2 children together. Her son Frederick MaKenzie was a teacher in Stillwell area for many years. Frederick married Effie McClintock. Malissa's daughter Henrietta McKenzie married Stephan Edward Laffey in 1889 in Adams County, Illinois. Can anyone help me find these families. thank you so much, Judy jabrat@smwireless.net
