Looking for information on Edmund F. Barker and Minerva Jane Allen who I understand were married on April 26, 1865. This is in accordance with the book "Hamilton Co., IL marriages 1821-1870 P. 141. I am specifically looking for details to determine if she was the Minerva Jane who was born in Cedar Co. MO in ca 1839. Thank you!

Kennedy/Cannady Mystery - Hamilton Co., IL

I am trying to make a connection between my deceased step-father Clay Kennedy (b.1922), grandson of Archibald Kennedy (b.abt 1863). Clay left me some documents which include land purchase certificates from the 1850s, one for William W. Kanada (I believe to be Cannady)and the other for Archibald Cannady, both in Hamilton Co., IL. In the 1850 Fed census, I found Archibald (b.abt 1830) and William (b.abt 1834) as the sons of Archibald Cannady (b.abt 1785).

Since my stepfather had these documents in his possession, I believe the Cannadys were his ancestors.
If anyone can shed any light on family connections I would be very appreciative to have that information. Thank you in advance!

I stumbled upon mention of Henson G. Raines on the steamer "General Lyon," which burned and sunk March 31, 1865. My grandfather, Henson G. Raines, was born in 1875 in Texas. The name is sufficient unusual that the earlier one surely must be an uncle or somesuch. Does anyone here know anything of Hence Raines?

Also, he married Della S King while still in Hamilton County, had a child pre-1900 which died, then another child Virgil in 1899, then another (my grandmother) Alma Grace in 1900-1901. The oldest daughter was born in Jan 1852. William must have married someone in Hamilton County in late 1850 or early 1851. I find no marriage record for him on the Internet, and the Hamilton County Clerk does not respond to my letters.
Can anyone help me find his marriage registration?
Some trees on World Connect have William married to Mary Norman abt 1851, but none will say how they know that.
Thanks,
Peachy

OBITUARY OF ONE OF THE PIONEER MOTHERS
Mrs. Charity Clark Charles was a daughter of Professor Clark of Kentucky....She was born in Kentucky in 1825, and about
1839 removed with her parents to Hamilton County, Illinios, and settled near McLeansboro, the present county seat. Here, in 1843, at the age of 18, she was united in marriage to William Charles and installed in the old Charles home, four miles south of McLeansboro, where she resided continually until the time of her death. To this union was born ten children- five sons and five daughters-all of whom grew up...and are living except Phoeba, who (died) shortly after her father.... Surviving the mother are Rev Willis W. Charles of Terre Haute, Riley, John L., George and Chester Charles, of Illinois; also Mrs Maud Mitchell of Missouri, and Mrs Sarah Raynes, Mrs Hattie Porter and Mrs. Belle Henderson, of Illinois. There are also seventeen grand children and five great-grand-children. She was converted to the Christian religion at the age of 20 and was an active Christian worker until her warfare ended, March 7, 1904, in her 79th year. Her church membership was with the United Baptists until the organization of Mt. Olivet chruch of General Baptists, which took place in her home about 38 years ago....(here, the obit goes into extensive flattery)...large gathering of people came through storm and rain to be at the funeral.... buried at Mt Olivet church cemetary. (end of obit)
Note: Her husband, William Charles, had died May 16, 1877, and is buried in same cemetary, according to a newer tombstone my father photographed in 1995.

I am in the process of completing an application to the Mayflower Society and I have been unable to obtain a photocopy of a published piece of information which I must have to complete my application.

I have tried to purchase the book that I need the reference from but it is no longer available and I understand that the authors do not intend to republish in the future.

I have sought a copy in my local libraries but the nearest copy is over 200 miles away.

I am looking for information on BARKERs in southern Illinois, time period: 1850-1870. Specifically, I am interested in learning of Nancy E. Smith marrying a BARKER.

I have Nancy in Alexander Co, IL in 1850 ( living in the home of James Webb ). In 1860, Nancy is in Johnson Co, IL, ( still in the home of James Webb ). By 1870, Nancy is found in Stoddard Co, MO, living with her mother, Courtney, AND Nancy's son, James Clinton Barker.

The only lead to connecting to the BARKER surname is the following marriage info from Union County, IL :

Thomas BARKER & Nancy E. SMITH md. 14 Jun 1866, Union Co, Illinois ( book 3 pg 10 ).

Sincerely,
William Barker
Dexter, Missouri

Mt. Vernon Township around 1859 or early 1860 after both of her parents passed away..But I believed her brothers stayed in Hamilton Co and Possibly lived out their lives there. Their names may have been James, John, Jesse and David...
Her husband Calvin also had family there. A brother William Gray and maybe a brother named Alexander Gray and possibly a sister Lucy Gray Norman...His Father's name may have been Jesse Gray....I think there are family of these two still living in Hamilton Co...Hope someone can help me out there...Any little thing will be appreciated...Thanks

Descendancy Report for Celia Maulding and Lewis Dailey

I have been looking at the descendants of Celia Maulding and Lewis Dailey of Hamilton County for a while now.

This family is not well documented and I don't know when, or if, it will ever be possible to say that anyone has identified and 100% documented all of them - even in the first generation - not to mention further down. But in the interest of furthering the conversation I've posted a descendancy register at this web address:

http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=REG&db=dailyma...

I have set the gedcom to prevent downloading. As my purpose here is to facilitate comments/research not to provide an easily copied tree for others to paste into their charts.

All persons shown have been verified and cited with census records. Marriages are formally sited in some cases and in others are from information gained on this message board, my personal family history docs, Grandma's notes - (Alta Luvada Chastain), cemetery transcriptions and One World Tree sources. In the case of One World Tree sources I've not used any information from them that I could not confirm with census records and Social Security records etc. etc.

My family and our knowledge of the Dailey family is from the time they spent living in Stone County Missouri - where my mother's family originates and where I grew up. We, like some of the members of this site who have put forth descendancy lists of this couple previously, have combined family records and notes with more formal records to arrived at this list.

I look forward to comments/corrections/amplifications from one and all.

Greg

Hi,
I am looking for information on the current owners of property that used to belong to my gggrandfather Daniel Boone Driskell. It is located in Hamilton County near the Saline County line on Porter Road in the old Gholson Grove community. He owned 83 acres (40 on one side and 43 on the other). I was told they sold it after my grandmother Florella Driskell died around 1940 or so. I know that all but about 20 acres (where the old homestead stood) is being farmed. The property is very near to where Geraldine Miner lives. It is just around the corner from where the old Gholson Grove school was. Any help would be very appreciated. Thank you,
Teresa Driskell Barndt

They married in about 1851 in Monroe Co Tenn and had 5 children-Sarah, Jane, George, Cerelsa, and John. The children were all born in Ill. I did not find them in the 1860 census. I did find Luther, a new wife-Sophronia (Coffey), the 5 children and a 6th child in the Hamilton Co 1870 census. I "assumed" Ann died between 1864-when John was born-and 1868 since the children were with Luther in the census. Thanks for any info.

Hello. I am looking for information on Samuel Francis fairweather. He moved to Hamilton County in 1841-1842 from England. I know that he had died in Hamilton county before 1850 for he is not listed in the 1850 Census but his wife is there. Does anyone know where he might be buried?
Valerie Reese

Samuel/William Hogg Family

Are any other researcher’s currently in search of information about Samuel (William?) Hogg? According to family legend He was born in Virginia and lived in Hamilton County until the late 1830’s. He has been connected to the John Braden, Sr. family, supposedly through a daughter named Minerva. As many people know, John Braden,Sr. was definitely married to and divorced from a woman named Minerva, however I’ve never seen any real proof that she was a HOGG. Has anyone else? I am really wondering if the last name is correct. We may never know for sure.

Anyway, whether or not Minerva was actually the daughter of Samuel Hogg, I am very interested to find out more about him since he was considered a pioneer of Hamilton County. Has anyone else done much digging into Samuel…his spouse, his life before or after Hamilton County? I have done some research and would like to discuss my findings/theories with anyone else who is interested in him as well.
Am wondering if anyone knows how to contact the caretaker or grounds-keeper of Richardson Hill Cemetery? I can't seem to find anyone who has a list of the people buried there. My interest is in finding a stone or information on my gggrandmother: Jane Smith Trammell Glover and one of her children: George (aka: Garner) Glover. Jane would have died between about 1890-1895. George died after the 1920 census, believe in 1922. Jane Smith first married Shadrick Trammell in Clarksville, TN., 1859, having one daughter: Hannah Mary (Nicey) Trammell (m. John Dale). Jane married 2nd James William Glover; having several children: James Albert; Charles Marhsall,Nora Lois, Cora Alice, and George. George was b. abt. 1869, was not in the military, never married (to anyone's knowledge). An aunt said she saw the grave marker for Jane Glover but going back she was not able to find it again. If anyone has any information I'd love to hear from you. email: Paula33922@comcast.net

I'm looking for information on my gg-grandfather, John Horn. He was born 4 July 1842, not sure if in Illinois or in Germany, and married Ursula Brandl/Brandel. The only information I've seen so far is just from other online family trees, so I can't vouch for the accuracy, but these say that they had 11 or 12 children, but it seems most of them died young, so not many grandchildren.

My g-grandfather was George Horn, who married Thecla Eleonore Anselment. There was also a Catherine who married John Schnicker, Cunegunda who married Charles Krause, and Joseph who married Therese Frey. To my knowledge, all of the other children died before getting married (or at least before having children of their own). Both John and George died when my grandmother was two years old (1915), and my grandmother when my father was ten, so we haven't really heard anything about this side of the family.

Thanks for any help.

I'm posting this with the hope that I have finally found a crack in the brick wall I hit about 4 years ago. As noted below I have found two of my wife's ancestor's final resting place. Perhaps this means that the family came from Hamilton Co. or that descendants still live in the area.

Looking for ancestors/descendants/info of Henry Hall & Mary J Moore.
Henry and Mary J had 5 children that I know of:

Henry b. 1857 d.1890 buried at Mary Chapel Cemetery,
Martha(Mattie) b.1860 d.1910? buried at Mary Chapel Cemetery
Charles Wesley
Lottie
Susie

Lottie and Susie may also be buried at Mary Chapel Cemetery also but I cannot verify since I don't have their spouse's name, but I do find a Charlotte Fairweather and a Susie Carey interred there.

Son Henry married Lucy Donelson in Gallatin County (probably Lucy's home)on 8/26/1880 and they had 5 children:

Charles Wesley b.1881 d.1929
Frank A. b 1883
William L. b 1885
Lula b. 1887
Henry E. b. 1890

Charles Wesley became a Methodist Minister and was in the Crossville, White County in 1908 when he married Anna Laura Rudolph.

Looking forward to any responses

I don't know if Richard was a child of Francis and Charlotte or a brother or nephew of Francis' Has anyone ever heard of him?
They arrived in June 1841 but I have been unable to find a Richard Fairweather in the census that corresponds to this person.
Valerie Reese

Source of the MAYBERRY-NALLE traditions?

Does anyone know where the "traditions" for the Frederick MAYBERRY and BARBARA NALLE family originated?

Does anyone know if perhaps there was/is a family bible that these "traditions" were recorded into?

Such as, where did the names of Frederick's parents and grandfather come from?

I have seen early published family histories for various family lines descended from Frederick and Barbara, giving the Germany location of birth for him and the NJ. to PA. to VA. migration in America, plus one states that he left Germany and went to Scotland, from where he sailed to America. But, I have never seen any published family history that names his parents and grandfather, yet their names are stated in the compiled data of many researchers on the Internet.

Does anyone know what the source of his parents and grandparents are?

Gloria
Ghursey2@aol.com

Elijah Tittle/John B. Tittle/Anthony Tittle

I'm searching for information that would confirm or deny a link between Elijah Tittle with the families of John B. Tittle and Anthony Tittle in Hamilton Co IL.

Rev. Elijah Tittle (b. 21 Mar 1855 TN, d. 2 Feb 1898) and his wife, Mary (b. 13 Feb 1857, d. 23 Feb 1922) are listed as being buried in the Springer/New Hope cemetery near Blairsville, Hamilton Co. IL along with many other Tittle burials. It's possible that Elijah is a younger brother to John B. Tittle (b. 28 May 1853 TN, d. 28 Feb 1907 Hamilton Co IL) and Anthony Tittle (b. 18 May 1851 TN, d. 33 Dec 1922 IL), both of whom are also buried in the Springer/New Hope cemetery. John B. and Anthony are sons of Samuel C. Tittle and Lydia Denton Tittle, originally of Warren Co TN who later migrated to Hamilton Co IL and are also buried in the Springer/New Hope cemetery. They are also nephews of my 2G-grandfather, Lorenzo Dow Tittle.

John B. Tittle is referred to as "Elder" and served in the Beaver Creek Baptist church. I do not know which denomination or church "Rev." Elijah Tittle served.

Any leads or information about Elijah Tittle would be appreciated.

John Reid
P.O.

Bernice was born 13 Dec 1918 and died 24 Feb 2001.

She was married to William Ernest FLINT.

The two newspapers that carried her obituary
Evansville Courier (IN); 2001-2-25
Register-News; 2001-2-26

My reason-I am from a FLINT line that I believe is related to William Ernest FLINT's great-grandfather John FLINT. I can't prove Thomas FLINT, a brother to John, is the father of my William FLINT born 1826 Kentucky and died 1901 Kansas(although my William's obituary lists places he lived where Thomas FLINT lived).

I've located a all male descendant from my line. I need to approach him concerning Y-DNA testing. I'm hoping William and Bernice have living male descendants, or someone knows of an all male descendant line from John FLINT.

Please see some of my research data involving the FLINT Family
http://www.werelate.org/wiki/User:Grandmakr

I was originally given a list that was begun in the 1920's and have finally began to work on it. So far over 600 names have been added, and I am seeking any and all info, wills, court records etc on the Moores of early HC and their descendants especially those descended from James, Jeremiah, Samuel, William, Robert and Greenberry Moore. Their families spread throughout the county and beyond. If you have any Moores in your line from Hamilton Co please contact me. All help appreciated and any questions answered.
John Curtis Family

Looking for descendants of John Curtis and his second wife, Virginia Martin Curtis. One son, Lum (Christopher Columbus) Curtis. born 1857 married Charlotte Blanchard and was in 1900 Hamilton Co. IL census. Another son, W. R. "Watt" Curtis, born 1860, married America Walleron. I believe both men are buried in Hickory Hill Cemetery in Hamilton County. John Curtis is my ggg grandfather through his first wife, Sally Stewart. He was born in Hopkins Co. KY about 1803, but I have been unable to find any information about his death. Am interested in sharing information on John Curtis' ancestors and descendants in hopes of filling in some missing genealogy. Thanks!

I am studying the above families who lived in western White and eastern Hamilton County, especially the Savage family, which is currently represented in the Dahlgren and Belle Rive Area. Another particular interest is in the descendents of Edith Lord McClellan (1859-1915) and John McClellan, which include at least six children, including Snowden Wheeler (1878-1954), who married two Hutchcraft women. Most of this family is buried at Hopewell cemetery near McLeansboro.
