Could I please get someone to look up a death certificate for me? It is for Lucinda Catherine Morgan Lemay who died Oct. 12,1877. I do not know where she died but she is buried at Smith's Chapel at Dale Il. It is said she had a baby shortly before she died and that it died shortly after it was born. It is said that the baby was buried with Lucinda. Is there any records of the baby's birth or death?

Pearl Hoffman, my grand-aunt from my great-grandfather's second marriage, married Marion Charles Mangis in 1904 in Evansville, Indiana. They appear in the 1920 census in Junction, Gallatin County, Illinois, with daughter Helen.

Services for Mrs. Bertha E. Holdren, 73, who died Thursday at Hamilton Memorial Hospital, will be at 2 tomorrow afternoon at Gholson Funeral Home, with burial in Digby Hill Cemetery. Surviving are sons, Ted of Jacksonville, Florida, Harold & Melvin of Dale; a daughter, Mrs. Kathleen York of Fairfield; brothers, Frank, James and Benjamin, all of Wabash, Ind, and Carl Brooks of McLeansboro; five grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Friends may call from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. (McLeansboro Times Leader June 4, 1983)

Ottis Brooks, 66, of Carmi died at 3:05 a.m. Wednesday March 9, at Carmi Township Hospital. He was born Oct.22, 1910 in Hamilton County, the son of Charles and Agnes (O'Bryan) Brooks. Mr. Brooks was a member of the Methodist Church at Dale. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Johnson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Rudolph Barnett officiating. Burial was in Digby Hill Cemetery. Survivors include six brothers, Arthur, Ernest, Frank and Benjamin Brooks, all of Wabash, Ind., and John and Carl Brooks of McLeansboro; and two sisters, Bertha Holdren of Dale and Iva Chelf of McLeansboro.

There is a Frank Hart, b 12 Oct 1870 & d 10 Nov 1955 & his wife Mollie Hart, b 5 Oct 1875 & d 22 Dec 1945 & buried in the Dexter, MO Cemetery. Could this by your Harts?

You are right about Miranda marrying Spencer Minton. In a compilation of Hamilton County records, in the marriage record of Spencer and Miranda, it calls her the step-daughter of Willis Wheeler.

James O. Brookds died 26 Jun 1939 He lived in Knights Prairie Township He was 81 years of age.
According to the obit for Arminda Barooks in 1914 they had 12 children

B.8 May 1859 in Augusta county,VA.i have him in the 1900 census and i think i found him in the 1880 census but not sure if that's him. I'm tring to find him in Virginia but no luck.I do know is father's name was Richard Lee Brooks but nothing about his mother.Another thing i'm looking for is a date of death for him. His wife's name was Minnie or Arminda C Jones b.21 Dec 1859 in IN. They where married 5 Mar 1881 in Henry County,IN and she died 4 Apr 1914 in mcleansboro and buried in Knight's Prairie cemetery dont know if he's there or not.

According to "Hamilton County, Illinois, Marriages, 1821-1870, on page 12 "John UPTON, son of John UPTON & Nancy MOORE, daughter of William MOORE were married 1 Feb 1832, by Thomas Cottingham, minister of the gospel. License dated 1 Feb.

I also find, on page 139, Joseph UPTON, Jr, son of David married in 1864. The Susanna and Lurania MOORE I find were married in the 1840's and 1850's, but not to UPTONs.

At the beginning of "Hamilton Co. Marriages" there is a section of marriages from White County, Illinois, from 1816 to 1821. At that time Hamilton Co. was still part of White; many of the marriages were of people living in the "West of White" which is what the Hamilton County part of White was called. I find a marriage of William MOORE and Polly HANKS married Jan 15, 1821. Perhaps this is a second marriage of Nancy's father. I found no UPTONs in this listing. And I did not find any Hannah MOORE at all.

this message is really old so I'm not sure you'll ever see this, but I have information on Bess Mendel, she was my great-aunt. Her full name was Nancy Bess Mendel, but she always went by Bess. She was born in St. Louis on 06 Sep 1896 and died in Camarillo, Ventura Co., CA on 09 1985. Her son's full name was Herman Wesley Hutchcraft. He also died in Camarillo in 1987. I think his wife may have still been living as of last year, but I can't find her name. She must be in her 90's if she is still around. Wesley was my father's only cousin. I would love any information you might have on him or the family. I have additional information on Bess if you need it (ancestors, siblings, etc)

I have a g-grandfather William Fielding White (abt 1860-1943) who married Lucinda F. Johns in Hamilton County in 1884. He had a number of siblings.

I'm looking for his father, Isaac White (possibly the one married to Permelia/Penelva O'Daniel). Any help would be appreciated and perhaps I have info you want?

no I have still not found anyone missing from a Douglass family that anyone can verify for me. I have learned since the posting that none of the children of what I thought to be my great great grandmother and grandfather were biologically theirs. The kids were Boutinots, Morgans, the Douglass I am searching for and some I still do not know.

I'm the great-grandson of Estell Gideon McQuay (aka "Mack") who's father was Richard Payton McQuay. I'm looking to see if anyone has been able to find information on James C. McQuay's parents. I believe they were named William and Emma and may have been born in Kentucky. I have only found a reference to them in the 1850 U.S. Census when they were located in Rockcastle, Kentucky.

Gary, if you are still looking for Andrew J. Hart & Mary Jane Hart, they are buried in the Old Bethel (Garner) Cemetery, RR, Dexter, MO. Their grave marker shows that Andrew J. Hart, b 1857 & d 1942 & Mary Jane Hart, b 1863 & d 1938. I live in Dexter, MO, my name is Hart & my Hart family is from White Co., IL., next to Hamilton Co. Do you have the month & day that they was born & died. We have the old newspapers on microfilm at the Keller Library. Would be a lot easier if you could give me the month & day.

I just recently got on Ancestry.com, and found your query.
Even though it is almost 2 yrs. old, thought I would answer it anyway.
I am descended from Francis Marion Lowry who was my great-grandfather, one of the triplet brothers of Light W. and Rachel. My grandfather was Jessie Tilford, one of the twin sons of Francis and Margaret Fannin Lowry.
My grandfather was orphaned by 1880, and I do not know what happened to his twin brother, Wiley.
My grandfather always maintained that his father was a triplet which I was skeptical of until I found them in the 1840 census. The other two triplets were George Washington and Andrew Jackson (obviously a very patriotic family. In that census, they are listed as "all born at once."
This has been my hardest line to trace, and I look forward to corresponding with someone who has more information on this family than I do.
I know that all the triplets were living in 1875 as I have a copy of Light's will in which he names all three of them along with his other children, David, John R., Elender J. Patton, Sarah E. Cates and Lucinda C. Warren.
He directs his brothers, John and Young S. as executors of his estate.
I also know that the triplet brother, George W. died Febuary 23, 1879, as I have a copy of the petition to settle his estate which lists his death date. His widow, Narcis, later married a Thornburg.
Will look forward to corresponding with you.

Seeking information on Christopher Columbus Malone, who died as a result of a train accident in McLeansboro in about 1906. He was a brakeman on the L&N line, and was my grandmother's first husband. Her name was Adeline Helms, and she was raised in Thackery.
