Have census information from Coke Coo. TX. that my grandfather JOHN FRANKLIN STURMAN was born in Illinois in 1857. Have located some STURMAN names in Hamilton County in mid-1800s, and am attempting to establish a connection. Do not know name of John Franklin's parents. Would appreciate any leads on this name.
Thanks, WILLIAM H. STURMAN

I learned alot about the sturmans in Hamilton county as they are the ones who had my gg grandfather in their home at 5 months old. he is listed on the 1860 census as S A Douglass at 5 months old. I went there this summer and found most of their graves. Will do my best to help. You might try the census at WWW.census-online.com. go to Hamilton county ill and then to the dahlgreen township section and you will find many there. the sturmans were related to what is supposed to be my family through the dabney mother. anyway email me at DonnaOz@earthlink.net and I will try to help as I am hunting the parents of the child they took in. donna

I was curious about your S A Douglass. I haven't found any stumans in my names but in the 1870 Hamilton Co Census,I had William , Jane, Joseph, Patterson and Matilda and William's sister, Elizabeth Douglass and next door was William's son David, wife Ella and daughters, Martha and Harriet. In 1860 Census they were all in Adams Twp, Guernsey, Ohio and 1880 the families have moved to Edgar County, Illinois. Did you ever find your connections to the
Douglass Family?

no I have still not found anyone missing from a Douglass family that anyone can verify for me. I have learned since the posting that none of the children of what I thought to be my great great grandmother and grandfather were biologically theirs. The kids were Boutinots, Morgans, the Douglass I am searching for and some I still do not know.
