I am researching my family whom I know came from Skaanevik. My great great grandparents were Knud Knudtsen Bruntvedt b.1844 and Torron Torresdatter Mathre b. 1849. They came to the US and settled in Norway, Kendall County, Illinois abt. 1860-1870. They had 10 children here. Can anyone tell me about the Bruntvedt name/farm in Skaanevik, more history and why they would have traveled to America during that time? Also, I am aware that several people from that area moved to Kendall County, IL. I do not live far from there, and plan to make a visit in the next couple months to see what documents I can dig up on this end. Any help would be great!
