Carnett, 76,
Saline County farmer, who for several years operated a general store at Horseshoe, died at the
Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado Thursday morning after several months of ill health.
The body was removed to the A. K. Moore funeral home in Equality, where it remained in state until Friday afternoon when it was taken to the family residence.
Deceased was the son of E. M. and Sarah Catherine Lewis
Carnett, a family of six sons and three daughters. His father, mother, and one sister, Mrs. Eller Stilley
Hull, preceded him in death. He was a member of the
Bethel Baptist Church, having professed faith early in life and joined the church.
He was united in marriage to Miss Amanda
Fletcher in 1900, to which union was born one daughter, Anna Lee, the mother and daughter passing away soon after. He was later united in marriage to Miss Lula C. Dennison. To this union were born two children, a daughter, Thelma, and a son, James Calvin. The son died at the age of 16 months, and the latter Mrs. Carnett's death occurred on August 6, 1930. The daughter, the present Mrs. Earl
Prather, survives.
In October 1939, he was married to Isophene
Woods. Of this marriage, he is survived by a son, James Edgar, Jr., and a daughter,
Ollie Ann. He also leaves five brothers, Tom and Lawrence of Harrisburg; Lee of Herod; George of
Midland, Texas; and Elmer, whose address was not learned; and two sisters, Mrs. John (Florence) Church of Harrisburg and Mrs. Bryan (Mary)
Colbert of
Herod.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the
Jones Church with Rev. Clayton
Humphrey and Rev. Clyde
Vinyard officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
