I'm looking for the US census data for my gg grandfater, NS (Nicholas Schermerhorn, but I've never seen that on any census) Bastion. Occasionally it's Bastian. A Methodist minister at the time, he was appointed to the Vandalia mission in 1839, and in 1841 to the Hillsboro Station in Vermillion Co. So in 1840, he should have been enumerated in Fayette Co. He was b. 1808 in NY. His wife Sarah was b. 1809 in TN. In 1840 they had no children. I've looked for him before, with no luck, but am hoping that those closer to the scene will be able to find him for me.
