Hi and yes I do have the entire Bishop Family. My ancestor was Jesse Moore Bishop b. in WVA and married Sarah Ann Johnston in Ohio. Jesse went to Guthrie County, IA and there are many Moores there also.

I have a print-out of a gedcom from a Bishop and it goes back to the 1700's when The BISCHOFF family arrived in MD. Then they just kept going west. They were really German.

At a quick glance I don't find a David but it is a huge file. Could you E-Mail me privately and I can do a better search. And by the way I have the wills of Elie Bishop and Nancy Moore Bishop and I obtained them from the Effingham Historical Society.

I read your posting and am interested. My father was Thomas David Bishop.
His father: Thomas Earney Bishop
His grandfather: Louis Bishop (buried Oakridge Cemetery)
His great grandfather: William Bishop

Thomas Earney Bishop married Matilda Jane Hutson in Effingham in 1905. The marriage register wrote his name as Arney Bishop and I had looked forever. I found it through Matildas name when I physically went to the court house. I was wondering if any of this matched the Bishops in your file

Sorry but I only have a George Thomas Bishop b. 1853 in Quincy, IL. However, I Do think there is a connection but I only have the older records. My Jessie Moore Bishop was born in Hardy County, WVA and moved to Ohio where he married Sarah Ann Johnston. Then in 1850 they were in IL and by 1860 they had moved to Guthrie County, IA. They then had Sarah Ann Bishop who married my grgrandfather after the Civil War. His name was Benjamin Franklin Ware and b. in PA. I have Sarah Ann Bishop Ware's pension files and no Thomas is listed as his children. I would guess that any Bishop in that area of Southern Illinois would be related as the sheets I have don't have all of the children's names. I would suggest writing to the Effingham Historical Society as this is where I got my information.

Thanks for replying.
My dad's grandfather had 10 children, 9 boys and 1 girl. One of the boys was George Washington Bishop but he was born in 1883.
Thanks for the suggestion.

Happy Hunting
Delores
