I am looking for a man that went by the name of Butch Flowers. Was told that Butch was not his actual first name. That is just what he went by. Been looking for him for some years. I remember him very well. He was a fun guy to be around. The last time that I saw him he was in his uniform and leaving to go into the service. He brought a puppy with him and gave it to our family. He ran around with my brother and sister, Donny and Sue Benton. He is from Paris, IL. If anyone has any information on Butch I would greatly apperciate it. Thank You. Verna Benton

I don't have information on Alma. However I can share what I have on the Kelsheimers.

Edward Kelsheimer (married to Rebecca Smith) was cousins with my Great x3 Grandfather William Evans Kelsheimer.

Their parents were John Kelsheimer & Harriet Edwards

John Kelsheimer's parents were Francis Kelsheimer & Margaret Myers.

Francis was a soldier in the American Revolution. One of the reason I think the Kelsheimer name is spelled so differently is because I believe that Francis didn't know how to write. Proof was his war pension, where he signed with an "X". Also the marriage record to Margaret was very hard to find because of the spelling.

I hope this is helpful information.

Kind regards,

Bridget

On the marriage records on IRAD, there are 2 marriage records for James R. Burton in Edgar, IL. Maybe one of these records will show his middle name. If he was married in the Catholic Church, their records might show his full name. Also, there are Paris, IL City directories that might show his middle name. Another possibility is to see if a "delayed birth certificate" was issued for him in either Paris, IL or in Kentucky since he was born before birth certificates were required in KY. The Edgar Co, IL courthouse has records of delayed birth certificates that people often needed for legal reasons. It looks like he was widowed on the 1900 Census so if that's correct, maybe his wife's death certificate would show her husband's full name.
There are city directories at the Edgar County Genealogy Library & Society in Paris, IL. If you could find out if they have some around the time you were born or shortly before that maybe you can find her parents' names or the house they lived in. Here is the link to it:

http://edgarcountygenealogy.org/

I think they also have some yearbooks, too. I don't live in Paris, but I have visited it and they have a lot of resources.

Also, I visited the library there too and this is some of what they have that might be helpful:

City Directories beginning with 1892 and continuing sporadically through 2010. (Children’s names included in 1962–1999 listings)
Paris telephone books 1949 to date, some missing years
Paris High School yearbooks since 1910.

Here is the link to the library because they also have other things like obituaries and cemetery records.

http://www.parispubliclibrary.org/genealogy

Hope some of this helps.

I did not care about the rest of the museum, so we planned to go on a Tues and go the Dominican Church, as your 2012 guidebook advises.

Carol Ann Johnson in Marlboro, VT USA 04/23/2012
This is from a reply from Rick Steves tours on the internet'

If she lived in Paris when she was 19, she probably graduated from there. I went to Classmates.com but there is no yearbook from 1956 - 1965 online. There are about 15 people registered that graduated in 1960. http://www.classmates.com/places/class/Paris-High-School/762...
There are 52 people registered that graduated in 1961 and there are 2 Johnson's: Art and Stephen. Maybe one is her brother?
http://www.classmates.com/places/class/Paris-High-School/762...

Hi Sarah. If your mother was 19 when you were born, she probably was born in 1942. Her parents may have lived in Edgar County. If you search the 1940 Edgar County census, you might get a lead on her parents. You could assume that her parents were probably born between 1910 and 1920. There are about 10 Johnson families living in Paris in 1940. Do you have any other info on your mother or her family? If you e-mail me, I might be able to help you dig a little deeper. I have helped other people find family before. Michael Arterburn ar2burntree@aol.com
I was wondering if there was any information regarding Jacob M. Lewis, DOB: abt 1845? The last information which I have regarding him is the 1870 census when they resided in Monroe, Allen, Ohio, it was in the Beaverdam postal area. The youngest child I found was Laura Lewis who was born in 1877. So I guess that he died sometime between 1876 and 1880. Mary Ellen Miller (Lewis) married Levi Weaver in 1881. Would there be any information at the library regarding his death?

Confusing? Lol...wouldn't hazel and floyd have been half-siblings?

Now everything on my end has been confusing from the start. Alvin and Laura's son Ercell was my great grandfather, he married Estelle Lawrence and they had my grandfather Henry Thomas Baxter. Henry was known through this area as 'chief', was very dark skinned. Henry was separated from his siblings and parents, and all the childten put into foster care. Apparently Ercell and Stella were alcoholics, and due the rough upbringing Henry wouldn't talk much of his younger life and from what we knew he had never found any of his siblings. My dad had given me the name of Alvin as a possibility for Henry's grandfather but we couldn't find anything back then. It was only by chance that i found info on him recently, the library in Paulding has greatly improved their local genealogy section since i had been there last. I knew that Stella was supposedly full blooded Cherokee, and that ercell was at least half, but unfortunately Henry passed away in 2004 and my father in 2010 and i am the last Baxter from Henry's line.

If there is anything that i can lookup for you here in Paulding let me know.

Yes, she is buried next to Alvin Baxter. She did remarry after he had died. I have been attempting to find the Cherokee line. My father stated that his grandmother, Della Lewis,( Laura Lewis' sister) was a Cherokee princess. I cannot find any of the documentation regarding this. So I think that the Cherokee must have something passed down from Laura and Della Lewis. My grandmother was born in Brocton, Illinois. Their parents were Jacob Lewis and Mary Ellen Miller.

Jacob M. Lewis was born in 1845 in Illinois. He died in 1880. Mary Ellen Miller was born in Penn and went on to marry Levi Weaver.

I have Thomas Baxter as being born in 1903. I do not have any other information regarding him.

My grandmother Hazel McDonald (English) was married to Floyd Baxter before Mary. This gets a little confusing.
According to the headstone in Convoy, OH, she died in 1930. There she is buried next to my great great grandfather Alvin E Baxter. Do you know anything about Cherokee blood in this family? My grandfather Henry Thomas Baxter was 3/4 to full Cherokee, but we never knew which part of the family it came from.

Laura Lewis Baxter then married my great grandfather, Charles McDonald. I guess he would have been your step great great grandfather.
The only cherokee blood i can find for a jacob lewis was for a jacob listed as 4 years old on the Dawes rolls from 1898. Laura Lewis Baxter would be my great great grandmother. Today i found some info on her at the library here in Paulding, but i cannot find anything here on her birth.

I just found George Larkins age 40 and Nancy Smith age 37 in the 1880 Caldwell, Sumner, Kansas Federal Census. They have three children: J. Lewis, George W., and Minnie A.. There is also a Martin Larkins age 48 in their home.

I also found a George I. Larkin age 75 in the Kansas State Census Collection, 1855-1925 in Sedgwick Co, Wichita, Kansas. In 1915 he is living with Roger S. Davis and Rebecca J. Davis who would be Nancy's sister.

REPOST:I am looking for an obituary or death notice for Catharine Roney (Rooney). She lived in Edgar Co, on the 1870 Census, then in Coles Co. on the 1880 Census. She died 4/7/1896 and her funeral was handled by the Cook's Funeral Home in Edgar Co, IL. I haven't been able to find her grave or her death notice. Any help you can give me will be appreciated.

lookup for obit - Rooney, M. G. & Mary, both died April 5, 1934

Repost:
Would anyone be able to do a lookup for me? There are two deaths on one day with the same last name, so I think there would probably be a death notice in the newspaper. I'm looking for either the newspaper article(s) or death
notices) if anyone might be going to the courthouse or library:

On the Burial Records for Saint Mary, Edgar County, IL -
M. G. Rooney
Mary Rooney
both died April 5, 1934

Yes, my 2nd great grandmother was Catherine Louisa Sharick. She married John Evans and their daughter Susan Ethus Evans married Charles Wm. Walker. Their son Percy married Inez Boyd and they had a son Wm Wallace who is my father. I was just in contact with a woman who posted a notice that she was from Canada and was in an Antique shop in Kansas City, MO and found a wedding picture of Susan Ethus Evans and Charles William Walker. She had scanned and posted the pic which I put on their profile on Ancestry. She said that she will mail me the original so I should be getting it any day now. It is so amazing meeting other extended family members.
