Hello,

My husband recently contacted the Joliet Diocese to inquire about plots at a cemetery in Naperville that is almost full. They suggested this cemetery as an alternative and said that they are planning to formally develop it soon.
I was just searching for information about it and came across the report of a ground scan the Joliet Diocese just had performed recently. It is available online at this link:

http://www.accurateuv.com/auv/index.php/about/gpr-analysts/2...

I'm not sure if the report is supposed to be publicly available or not, but it is, at least for now. Thought you might be interested.

I am in search of Emma Carrick birth 1867, Aurora, IL. She married my great grandfather Harry Story. Emma died young, and her children. And, Harry Story remarried to my great grandmother Lucy Story. But, he requested to be buried beside his Emma, even though, all their children had died, and he had 2 more children with Lucy Story.

We believe that the Carrick family may have portraits of Emma Carrick Story and Harry Story, and possibly of Harry Story's father and mother Joseph Story and Ann McGown Story.

I would be so grateful if any one can forward me any memorabilia or has lead as to who Emma Carrick's living kin may be. Thank you in advance.

heatherdurian@yahoo.com
Hi!

I heard back from the grand-daughter in law of Mabel Blix. Mabel married Roland Emmons and they had a couple of daughters. One of them, Lois, married a man need Mosier and they had sons. I do have a tree worked up. the descendants of Leonard's first marriage go by Mosier or Gray at this point. Mabel lived well into her 90s. I was hoping that Mabel's aunts and uncles by the name of Knudson left something behind, but I haven't heard of anything. Ms. Mosier said Mabel liked to tell stories to her.

Leonard Blix was church secretary for Trinity Church and many of the church records are in his handwriting. I found a record that Leonard employed 8 people in his tailoring business during the 1890s. He did well and must have been very talented. Thanks for you info!

Lars H

Leonard and Augusta Blix are my great grandparents. Darwin Bernard Blix is my grandfather. He married Betty Seidl and had my dad, Darwin Bernard Blix II. My dad married Anna Kay Eubank. Andrew and myself (Kristen) are their children.

I went to a family reunion in Chicago about 10 years ago. I met Uncle Oliver, Aunt Garnett, and Aunt Eleanor. All of them lived very long lives, but have passed away in the past 10 years. Oliver lived in Chicago, Garnett in California, and Eleanor in Texas. Aunt Lill lived in Florida near us during most of my childhood. I believe that there were family members from the first marriage at the family reunion. I'll ask my dad, but I can not remember the connection.

Yes, my Mother in Law was boarded there 1920's to 1930's. I obtained information from the Catholic Church about her. You will need to prove your connection to the 'inmate' and pay them $30.00, but you will get grades, all records for the person - intake/release information concerrning family etc. It is controlled in the Archdiocese Office in Chicago, records are kept at Maryville in north suburbs, call either one to start process.
Hello.I'm finding Alice in 1940 census, she's 26, single and a lodger. Search 1940 census for the name Richard Leander with wife Mabel. Alice is living as a boarder with them. Harry is also still in Chicago, searched under last name Borgeson and they have him listed as Hany Borgeson but if you enlarge it, it is Harry ~bad handwritting by the enumerator. You can add a comment to that to add correct info. Not finding Emily in 1940. Her name was Emily Maria Constantia Johnson born March 25, 1895 in Sweden. She arrived May 11, 1906 in New York. Claus A. Borgeson's parents were father: Borge Larson, born Hajam or Hajain Parish, Sweden, mother: Lovisa Magnusson born Bardaryd, Sweden. That's really all the info I can find but I hope it helps you on your quest. Good luck! Julie

I just found Albert on the 1880 with his parents so married after the census. He is recorded as Amaziaka Battel age 25. We don't have an 1890 but they should be on the 1900.I don't have Catherine's actual will but the notice for probate was in the paper listing the next of kin.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF
NEW YORK, to- Mary Ann Garrison,of Harrisville, N. Y.; Sarah Jane Lewis, of Yonkers, N. Y.; George A.
Macdonald, Rochester, N. Y.- Elizabeth Linton, of Montreal, Canada; Robert A. Macdonald, of Newark, N.J., Carrie Macdonald, of Gowner's Grove, 111.
Of these, I have Mary Ann and Robert. I believe Sarah Jane's husband was Lorin B. Lewis. I did find an Elizabeth Linton today using Lovell's directory for Montreal in 1907 but not sure yet if it is the right person. She was recorded as the widow of William Linton and I am pursuing that. I didn't find George A. MacDonald in Rochester.
I live about 2,500 miles from Brier Hill so can't go to the courthouse.
Thanks for your help
Peggy
Try if you haven't and if you live anywhere near where she died to go to the county courthouse and see if they can locate anything pertaining to her death such as a will or some other documents. I find it odd I cannot locate Catherine and/or Albert in 1880 or the 1900 census even with different spellings. Hang in there. Some day something will lead you to a clue and you may find this Carrie. She may be a cousin.

Catherine Battell nee MacDonald was born Apr 19, 1863 in Canada (or New York according to obit) and died Apr 19, 1907 in Hammond, New York. She lived most of her life in Brier Hill near Morristown, New York. Her parents were James McDonald (spelling changed later) from Canada (but later his son said James born Scotland) and Margaret Johnston who was born Ireland and raised in Canada.Catherine married Albert Amaziah Battell abt 1880 as according to her obit she was age 17.They did not have any children that I can find. She did have a brother William born abt 1853 according to 1865 state census. However, I don't think it was the William you mentioned although censuses can be very wrong.
Thanks so much for your help. I have no idea how Carrie fits into the family, just that she is listed as one of the next-of-kin when Catherine died in 1907. And that she lived in Downer's Grove, Illinois (actually they said Gowner's Grove).
Peggy

1910 Census states she was born in Illinois, husband was William H. MacDonald born Illinois occupation:worked in papermill. It also states his father was born at sea and his mother born in N.Y. So you'd have to trace William back to see if you can maybe you can try and find out his mothers maiden name. I believe Willaim's birth year was 1865. Good luck!

Hello,
I am still looking for Carrie and wanted to follow up on the one you found in Lockport. What was the name of her husband on the 1910 census. Catherine Battell had many brothers and perhaps Carrie was married to one of them. Where was the husband born? Strange though that Carrie would be listed as next of kin rather than her husband. Carrie could stand for Caroline.
Hoping this reaches you
Peggy

Yes, I know of it. I was there from around 1944 to late 1949. My no-good creep of a paternal grandfather placed my sister and me there at the behest of the housekeeper he was having an illicit affair with. He also beat my grandmother so badly she never recovered after she caught them having sex in her home and threatened divorce. My father remembered when he was nine or ten him beating her and then committing her. He was a completely evil man and creataed new identies. He was born in Austria and was a typical maniac from that part of the world. Never mind the Vienna Waltz, he made everything the dance of death and evil. St. Josephs was a hellhole. They beat and tormented children and were brutal. To this day I despise nuns and catholicism. They are a cult of the worst sort.

Ontarioville became Hanover Park. I cannot find any info about Big J. either. I remember Dispensa's Kiddie Kingdom, Santa's Village in Dundee and AdventureLand in Addison and Kiddie Kingdom in Melrose Park. Maybe search Hanover Park history.

I used to live at 27w124 Liberty Street,Ontarioville, Il, 60103. When did the area get paved over for the parking lots? Also, when did Big J Amusements dissolve, close or move? I cannot find any reference to them. The two kids Rob and Jim were my best friends. We have not talked since 1979.

Thank you very much for this info.

Now if I could only find more info on Alfred. Don't know if he ended up in Illinois or stayed in Mills County, Iowa. I think he may have actually died in 1947 in Pottawattamie Co., Iowa.

Thanks again for responding.

Bob Anderson
