Searching for the following families who lived in and around the Dekalb and Blackberry Station areas of Illinois:
Sometime prior to 1841, James Alexander TERWILLIGER and his wife, Sohpronia HURD, moved to Illinois. James either traveled with or was joined by his younger brother, William S. TERWILLIGER. William married Phebe Curtis in 1844. William and Phebe TERWILLIGER lived next to her father, Lenard CURTIS, who was married to Zilpha Trumble. And on the adjoining farm lived Lenard's son Franklin who married Harriet CONKLIN in 1843. We know their farms were on Bartlet Rd., just off Keslinger Road...the third farm on the right heading south. James and his family moved on via the Oregan Trail in 1845 to Portland, Oregan where he became one of the first settlers there. The farms are gone now, replaced by a subdivision.
In 1849, Richard PIERCE (PEARSE) arrived in Dekalb from Carhampton, Somerset, England accompanied by 6 of his 12 surviving children and his wife, Mary E. WYBURN (WIBORN) PIERCE. They purhcased a farm in Dekalb. Mary survived Richard by 25 years. She died in the early 1890's. Several of their children moved out to Lake City, Iowa.
Their daughter, Margaret PEARSE, married Edwin NICHOLS of NY in 1857. They had three children. Edwin died in the Civil War near Acworth, GA. Their daughter, Mary NICHOLS, born in 1859, married Alfred TERWILLIGER, the son of William and Phebe CURTIS TERWILLIGER mentioned above.
We have located Richard and Mary's gravesites. We have much information on the families mentioned above and would like to find other parties researching the same families.
Any information greatly appreciated.
