I am looking for my Grandmother's divorce record from the early 1940s. After spending a few days, I found the State of IL's public health site, where I can order a Dissolution of Marriage record (a.k.a divorce records) but it lists that they only have the records from 1962 to present.

What I know is that my Grandmother's name is Hazel Jean Cappelle and she married a man named Glen W. Chapman on 11 Feb 1938, they had one son named Richard that was born sometime in 1938 and who died on 12 Oct 1943 in an accidental fire.

I am assuming Hazel and Glen divorce sometime between 1943 and 1946 because in 1947 and 1949 Hazel had my Aunt and my Mother with a Wilmer L. Sell.

I'm assuming I will have to contact someone in Chicago to look up this record for me, but I have no idea where to write too, got any suggestions?
