I recently purchased a diary belonging to Edytha J. BRYER (b. June 13, 1908) and I'd really like to know if she ever became the mother that she desperately wanted to become. Her 3-year diary was filled with a range of emotions and I suspect Edytha had periods of depression and certainly of sadness. The diary abruptly ends in the middle of the third year of 1935. Edytha did realize one dream and that was to marry. Edytha married Frank(lin) SOUKUP (b. abt. 1914) sometime after 1935 - no mention of him is in the diary but a tragic story in the Chicago Times in 1945 tells of Frank & Edytha's desire to adopt the foster baby that they given a home to. However, the baby was adopted right from under them by another couple. Did Frank and Edytha have other children? According the SS death index, Edytha SOUKUP died Feb. 27, 2001 in Alsip, Cook Co. IL but I can't locate an obit for her in the Chicago Tribune's online archives. Please help me discover more about Edytha.
