I am at an absolute brick wall and need some help.
My Grandmother, Alice Gretter (nee Wolter) was born in Chicago 11/4/1907. Her father was William Frederick Wolter, I believe also born in Chicago about 1865. Her mother Anna Machert was born in Germany about 1872. I have been unable to find a birth certificate for my Grandmother or for her father William, nor have I been able to find a Death Certificate for William who would have died prior to 1946.
I know the family lived at 5754 South Sawyer Avenue, and prior to that at 812 W 19th Street, but I'm stumped! I can't verify or go any further back on this family!!!
With my grandmothers paperwork there was a record of birth from Chicago which indicated the original record could not be found.
Any help would be GREAT!
