I'm afraid I can't give you a lot of info on the hospital. Hopefully somebody else can provide you with something more definative to help in your search.

I can tell you, however, that Evangelical Hospital closed down sometime in the early to mid 1970's. At that time it was taken over by some health care corporation (they owned several hospitals) and they opened the Tabernacle Community Hospital at the 5421 S. Morgan site of the old Evangelical.
Apparently the plan was to tear down the Morgan St. building and build a brand new building/hospital a block or two away. That idea fell through when the loan for the new project was not approved. With that said, Tabernacle closed its doors in about 1977 or '78.
I believe all the buildings were demolished and to the best of my knowledge there is nothing on that site now other than a big, brick-strewn empty lot.... looking, unfortunately, much like the rest of the old neighborhood.
