OK, now I understand your reference to IA! I thought it came from the 1870 census. I have NS Bastion's Bible, and he gives Jennie's place of birth as Dubuque, Iowa, and Myra's place of birth as Davenport, Iowa, so I think they really were b. IA. I don't know what the librarian was refering to, but I know they were b. in IA, not IN!

The reference to Martha Bastion is very helpful, and I'm working on tracing her and her possible father in adjoining counties.
