Hello,
I'm trying to locate any photos of two trains that collided on the trestle crossing over the
Kaskaskia River at
Carlyle, IL. The accident occurred on June 20, 1865. The railroad was the
Mississippi &
Ohio. The west-bound train was carrying the 6th
West Virginia Cavalry to St. Louis for service on the Great
Plains. Most of the regiment's horses were killed in the collision. A photographer was present the next day and sold photos to several bystanders. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
