I'm sorry I can't help you, but I wish you success in your search.

Peggy

Yes. William Hilbert was born 18 May 1818 in Jeffersontown, KY, died 2 Sep 1876 in Clark Co., IL, and married Minerva Page on 2 Dec 1838 in Clark Co., IL. Minerva was born abt 1813 in Newburg, KY and died 20 Feb 1902 in Clark Co., IL. They had three kids that I know of.

1)Ann Eliza, b. 7 Jul 1842 and died 8 Dec 1887, married George W. Cox on 12 Nov 1863 in Clark Co., IL.
2)Julia, b. abt 1841 in Clark Co., IL, married John M. Hires on 30 Jul 1868 in Clark Co., IL. John is allegedly buried in Darwin Cem. at Darwin, Clark Co., IL
3)Albert, b. abt 1860 in Clark Co., IL

William was the son of Charles Henry Hilbert, b. abt 1793 in KY and died abt 1848/49 in Jeffersontown, KY. Charles Henry was married to Anna Jenny Unsell on 5 March 1818 in Muhlenberg Co., KY. Charles Henry was married about three times with Anna being the second (first likely wife's name not known yet) but he left her without divorcing and went to KY and married a third time to Margaret Burnett in 1834 in Mercer Co., KY.

William had three known siblings: James C. Hiram Hilbert, b. abt 1818 in IL; Fredrick K. Hilbert, b. 1816 in Lexington, Fayette Co., KY; and Jane Hilbert, b. 1824 in KY. These children came to Clark Co., IL and most of them have desc. in Clark Co., IL

Bennett Thompson and Rhuanna Curtis are my family. I know they had a son named John Thompson who died near Sydney IL
I found that Bennett was born in Berkeley Co WV about 1781, married Rhuanna Curtis 2-10-1814 in Berkeley Co. They moved to Knox Co OH around 1825 and to Clark Co IL in 1850. They are noted in the 1850 census for Knox Co OH. Their son John was born about 1825.

My great-great-gr'pa was Charlie Clark's older brother John A. Clark. Just recently I learned about Charlie's move to Clark Co, apparently with his John A.'s family. Did you receive the picture of Velva which I sent? I am going to Marshall this weekend and will see if I can find which Newell married into the Clarks and let you know. I also want to learn Charlie's wife's real name. I've seen Zilph and Silph, every variation.

She was the first cousin of my great-grandmother, Susan Clark Wyrick, and according to pictures I have from a close family member, Velva was the correct spelling. This is just too exciting. I'm attaching a picture, taken about 1920.

Sorry, but I don't have any photos of the arch. My parents visited the cemetery several years ago, but the arch was gone by then. Their photos just show the same broken steps leading into the cemetery that Robert mentioned. I checked with another Geisert researcher I know - Bud Geisert. He believes the arch was made out of iron, but he didn't have any pictures of it.
Have you tried contacting the Clark County Historical Society. Maybe they would have a photo or know where to find one.
Good luck in your search.
Cindy

I have no photo of an entrance arch. Sorry. My earliest visit to Macke Cemetery was in September 2001, and I do not remember seeing an arch. Certainly it was gone by Mar 2003, when I took a photo of the entrance which had only steps leading from the roadway with a fence on either side, but nothing else. I am very pleased that this lonely, lovely, and peaceful cemetery, where my GG grandparents are buried, is being looked after.

Do you have a picture of the entrance of the Macke Cemetery when the arch was still there? Gary Macke is now the trustee, and he would like to restore the entrance.
Hey Debbie, the spelling of the last name,I have found, is Wesnitzer. There are still Wesnitzer's living in Sandusky. I found Joseph thru people search. He's about 62 yrs. old. I want to contact him to see if he has info on this family. I'm sure he is probably a relative, as it doesn't seem to be a common name. I have found that Grandma Rose had 2 brothers but I don't know if she has any sisters. E-mail me at happycampers96@yahoo.com. Am anxious to hear from you after all these years. I am also in contact with Great Uncle Hank's grandaughter from Michigan.

These are all family members of mine. William Henry Saiter was actually born Wilhelm Seiter. He married as William Saiter to Elizabeth Valentine, according to the marriage record. I don't know where the Huner fits in.
Christian and William are brothers. There was also Christoph and Phillip Jacob that came to America with them and parents in 1832. Send me an email and we can share more info. Wm. and Christian's brother John (Johannes) actually came in 1830 at age 17 with his uncle Jacob and his family.

I have only recently begun tracing my lineage, and have been having a fairly hard time tracing this line. I would enjoy learning of any information you may have about this line. We have a picture of him with a wagon and a team of oxen or cattle in the Clark County Historical Society museum, and we would like to use it in our historical calendar for 2010, but we need some more information about him. I am pretty sure that is a nickname as I can find no one in the census by that name. Thanks for any help that you can give.
Just taking the names you are looking for in Clark County the census was being taken from about the first week in June 1860 to the last week in July 1860. The date taken is normally stated at the top of each page although I have seen some that had the top of the page cropped off for some reason.
Hope this helps,
Pat

Wood Spurlock was my father and I have done some genealogy work on the family - mainly on my grandmother's side/ Wood's mother - the Best family. I have done some on the Spurlocks and do have some family pictures.
I was just curious how you know about my dad and who you were?

I have searched all Ohio census from 1800/30. No Willisons shown 1800/20, but in 1830, 11 in Ohio. Check them and none have a daughter 30-40 years old. In 1830 Noah is living in Franklin County, Ohio, by self. Not all families were counted in 1800/40 censu,. missed a lot on the farms. Guess counters got lazy. 1850 shows Rhoda (59) born about 1791, Noah (42) about 1808 and eight children. Everyone born in Ohio. The oldest child was 17 years old, about 1833. Women are very hard to trace unless they were living alone during the early census.
Ray
