Classification: Query
IIllinois Place Names by James N. Adams c.1989: I couldn't find anything that was spelled that way nor would be written and interpreted to be that. HOWEVER, if you say the name Chautauqua quickly, it is very difficult to hear the "k" sound made by Q. Given that possibility, there is a Chautauqua in Jersey Co. IL with was established in 1897. That's a little late for the birth but depending on when she died, the obit might have used the name that the town was using at the time. Chautauqua was formerly called Babbs Hollow and Piasa Bluffs. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
