I am looking for information on a Mary GROTH. I know that she was married to John WURSTER in Carroll County, IL before 1866. I know nothing else about her.

Also, I would like to find some information on Isaac & Mary LAHRE. I only know that they were married and the parents of Paul LAHRE. Any other information would be great!

Vicki,

From the Oak Hill Cemetery in Mt. Carroll:

WURSTER, John G. d. 2 Mar 1904, aged 30y 5m 12d
WURSTER, George J. 1904 - 1933

Too young to be yours, but maybe descendents?

From the Wacker Brethren Cemetery:

LAHRE, John Father, Co. C. 46 Ill Inf. 1830 -1914

Lucy, Mother 1842 - 1921

Paul G. son 1884 - 1936

This is another LAHRE family with a son named Paul!

Checked Wysox, Fairhaven and York Twp cemeteries and found none with these surnames.
Bob

I don't know if my greatgrandmother Sarah Adeline Lahre settled in Carroll county or not. My grandfather Jay James Gould born in Quincy,IL in 1881 birth certifiate lists Sarah Lahre's birthplace as Rising Sun,IN. But this is the first posting I have seen for Lahre. It is an unusual name. Maybe a relation to our family.

Dear Ms. Clarkson,
I descend from the Carroll County, Illinois Lahres. I still have relatives in the area to this day. Let me know what you need, and I will dig into my files. I am pretty sure your Paul is part of the family that lived in Lanark.

Hi Deena,
Pauline France Lahre and Elmer Carl Wurster were my grandparents, if you need any more information on the Wurster family, or Lahres, I'd love to compare what we have.

Robert Lahre, I hope you're still out there. Are you the Robert Lahre who put the RobertLahre family tree on Rootsweb, last updated in August 2001? I just added the Lahre family to the outer reaches of my admittedly huge Horner family tree. The 1917 Prairie Farmer's Reliable Directory for Carroll County, Illinois shows an Isaac Lahre married to a Julia Robert (actually Roberts, misspelled). It also shows them with two children, Paul and Flossie.

Who was this Isaac Lahre? I show Julia 31 years old, single and living with her mother on the 1910 US Federal Census for Freedom Township, Carroll County, Illinois but married to Isaac Lahre on the 1920 US Federal Census for Lanark, Carroll County. Isaac was 48 on the 1920 census. They don't have any children on the 1920 census, so I wonder whose children Paul and Flossie were.

I found two Isaac Lahres on a family tree, maybe yours, titled RobertLahre, and on OneWorldTree on Ancestry.com; Both Isaac Lahres were born in 1865, and were first cousins. One was born July 5, 1865 in Loran, Stephenson County and the son of William Lahre; he was still single and living with his parents on the 1900 US Federal Census for Loran Township.

The other Isaac Lahre was the son of John Lahre and born February 28, 1865 in Loran, Stephenson County. I don't have a spouse for him. The Illinois Statewide Marriage Index, through cyberdriveillinois.com, shows a Isaac Lahre marrying a Mary Weaver June 18, 1892 in Carroll County; which Isaac Lahre is he?
