Hello, It's been years since I looked at this site, so I hope your email address is still valid. I do have some exciting information for you. Your great grandfather is my great uncle Henrich/Henry. He emigrated with my grandfather, Wilhelm/William, and their father, Otto, I believe, in 1892 from Germany. There mother's maiden name was Schimdt and apparently she died young, possibly in childbirth. They are from the northern area of Germany, near Hamburg. William and Henry were raised in their childhood by their mother's family, as the family oral history suggests. Otto was some sort of successful business man and they came over in fairly plush second class cabins. They are listed on the Ellis island website. I also have some documents, including my grandfather's naturalization papers and some old advertising cards from Henry's tavern in Golden Eagle. Henry went back to Germany, sometime in the early 1900's, to get his inheritance from his father's estate which set him up in his tavern. My stubborn grandad, William, refused to go back and get his inheritance for some murky reason. I would love to hear from you, cousin. I did not know of any of Henry's prodigy. Also, my grandmother, Anna Kamp Manies, was related to your great grandmother, maybe sisters or cousins. I knew her, she lived to be 94 and passed when I was 14 in 1977. If you'd like to talk more send me an email at
keithermann@yahoo.com and I will send you my phone number. I have some information on the Kamps, too. Thanks, Keith
