The Tampico Area Historical Society is located in Tampico, Whiteside County, Illinois. It is the birthplace of President Ronald Reagan and Admiral Joseph Mason Reeves. The organization encompasses parts of Whiteside and Bureau Counties, with special emphasis on Tampico, Hahnaman/Deer Grove, Hume Twp. in Whiteside County and Yorktown and Thomas in Bureau County. Area towns are often incorporated by proximity & default, since many of the pioneer families originated from those areas.

We are a separate organization from the Ronald Reagan Birthplace, but we do provide web pages dedicated to them. http://www.tampicohistoricalsociety.citymax.com/R_Reagan_Bir...

We have an active Message Board that is monitored daily and we offer assistance in your local research.

We are very grateful to the Village of Tampico for paying the annual fee for the website and to TheWisp for providing free internet service at the building.

Members are encouraged to visit our Family History Library & Research Center, located upstairs at 119 Main Street, Tamipico, IL. Treasures abound - we archive the Tampico Tornado newspapers that were published from 1876-1966. Other items include our Funeral Logs, Cemetery Indexes, Family History files, photo albums, Whiteside County history books & biographical sketches. We have a computer with internet access, which members can use to access ANCESTRY.com and FOOTNOTE.com In this economy, it's a great bargain for your $10 annual fee. http://www.tampicohistoricalsociety.citymax.com/Membership_D...
