The History of Adams Co. IL 1879 p. 318 has a section "Election Precincts". The board of supervisors met on Friday, 1 Nov 1850. Resolved: Ellington - The town of Ellington to be one precinct, and the stone house known as the "Old Jacobs place," to be the place of voting. We believe this was the home of Henry JACOBS and his wife Elizabeth WILHELM. Henry died in 1844 and Elizabeth married John ILER 16 Apr. 1845. Based on the tax records for 1844 and 1845, Henry's land was Sec. 17 S 1/2 SE and pt. E 1/2 NE and Sec. 16 W 1/2 SW and SW NW. We would appreciate any information on the stone house, especially its location in relation to the Jacobs Family Cemetery. This is not my family. I am helping a descendant who lives out of state.
