I am trying to find out more information about my g-grandfather's cousin, Susie (might be spelled Sussie). She died Nov. 27, 1928 in Twin Falls. Her husband's name was Loren E. Blakeslee, and they were married Oct. 15, 1922 in Pocatello. I don't think they had children. I'd like to know if someone has more information about her; in particular, I'd like to know what her obituary says. Thank you.

Our 2 Nelson brothers were born in Braman, Oklahoma & moved to Twin Falls, Idaho about 1928/9. These 2 brothers married 2 sisters on 25 Oct 1930 in Elko, Nevada. Harold Curl Nelson was born in 1907, married Pauline Bevercombe & died in 1975 in Boise, Idaho. Robert Alexander Nelson was born in 1909, married Velma Bevercombe & died 1966 in Boise. I don't know these Nelson brothers' parents' names, as they are collateral lines, but evidently they are not related to the Nelson families you folks are referring to. Good luck in your further searches.

I found your and Juvanna's messages back and forth to each other and hope you have been able to read my messages to her in reference to the Nelson-Boehm family in Twin Falls Idaho. My husbands aunt and uncle were Carl and Lucy Nelson. Lucy and Tina were sisters to his father. I don't know much about the Nelson family. As far as I know no one here from the Nelson side were very interested in the family history. Let me know please what information you have about the Nelson family. Thank you.
The Twin Falls area directories haven't been much help yet. There is a C.M. Terry living at RR3 in Buhl, through 1960 (but not 1962). I can't confirm that this is Columbus M., but that is the most likely. I see only one other marriage in the Western States Index, for one daughter.

Groom Last Name: SMITH
Groom First Name: Earl A.
Groom Residence:
Bride Last Name: TERRY
Bride First Name: Lora F.
Bride Residence:
Place: Buhl
Date: 08 Mar 1934
County of Record: Twin Falls
State: Idaho
Volume: 9
Page: 507

I have not had much time to check for the children.

There appears to be a matching Lora F. Smith in the SS index, who was born, 20 Nov 1913, and died 12 Nov 2006, last residence Pocatello ID.

and a possible match from the:
http://abish.byui.edu/specialCollections/famhist/Obit/search...

ID: 204356
Last Name: Smith
First Name: Lora Francis
Age: 92
Gender: F
Cemetery: Pocatello, Idaho--Restlawn
Birth Date: 20 Nov 1913
Birth Place: Davis County, Utah
Date Died: 12 Nov 2006
Death Place: Pocatello, Idaho
Father: Willey C.
The Bureau of Land Management has a website for Homestead Act Land Patents:
http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/

It shows land obtained by Albert Anderson in Cassia County, of 80 acres, on 1/3/1957. Since this is a fairly recent purchase, this "might" be the son of Albert, or the grandson?

This land was located at the Boise Meridan, Township 12-S(south), Range 22-East, Section 26., the area of W1/2NW, (the west 1/2 of the NW quarter). If this land is in the family, I can show you how to locate the land via a Plat map.

Rita,
I see you are new to posting of genealogical inquiries. When you post, it is important to limit your search posting to an individual or individual family. By posting five family names, most researchers feel you are looking for everything and aren't doing your own research. You should also post as much information as you can about the sought person. Their Date-of-Birth is ESPECIALLY important if you have it. If not, post what you can about the person.

Now to answer your other post on this board, posted 9 March 2009, concerning Ephraim W. King and Margaret L. Williams-King. That posting was very well document.

Since I found your own family tree posted on Ancestry.com, you can find the below family trees posted by others concerning this family.

Your tree for the benefit of other researchers is at:
http://trees.ancestry.com/pt/person.aspx?pid=-1226975960&amp...=
Of all the trees posted, I found yours to have the most data, nicely done, so you already have a GREAT deal of information about this family. So, saying that, it's even more important to be specific about what you need, or you might get a lot of research that you already have from someone that didn't take the time to see what you really needed.

1. http://trees.ancestry.com/pt/person.aspx?pid=-1485715748&amp...=

2. http://trees.ancestry.com/pt/person.aspx?pid=-984630063&...=

3. http://trees.ancestry.com/pt/person.aspx?pid=-477610846&...=

4. http://trees.ancestry.com/pt/person.aspx?pid=-935473565&...=

5. http://trees.ancestry.com/pt/person.aspx?pid=-574027267&...=

6. http://trees.ancestry.com/pt/person.aspx?pid=-457448080&...=

Also, since the limitations on receiving death certificate, etc., of 50 years is LONG past, you can order them through:
http://healthandwelfare.idaho.gov/Families/BirthDeathMarriag...

You're doing a great job.

Ron Bestrom

J,
I found your family tree online at Ancestry:
http://trees.ancestry.com/pt/person.aspx?pid=-884396224&...=
This type of information helps a boni fide researcher, also to prevent "lookup reports" when you already have the information or more of it. There is also another family tree on this family from "marylourkennedy", perhaps a cousin. You can access it here:
http://trees.ancestry.com/pt/person.aspx?pid=-588636481&...=

I find notice of an obituary dated 22 May 2005 of Nancy Simonds, preceded in death by her husband Neil Simonds in January 1964. A search identified the obit published in the Times-News, Twin Falls:

2 PHOTOS Nancy Simonds Our dearest mother, Nancy Nunziata Marie Mastro Simonds was born April 9, 1918, in Santeramo in Colle, Province, of Bari, Italy. She passed away on Mother's Day, May 8, 2005, of congestive heart failure after living a life of dreams that she fulfilled. She emigrated with her parents, Stella Favale and Julius Mastro, to America and Boise, Idaho, in 1920. Her father had previously been to Boise and had worked as a stone mason on such edifices as St. John's Cathedral and the Idaho State Capitol Building. Mom attended Central Grade School and graduated with highest honors from Boise High School in 1936. She married her only real love, Neil Simonds on Feb. 24, 1946, in Boise. Nancy was widowed in January of 1964 and raised her seven children, the oldest being 16 and the youngest 6 at the time of Dad's passing. Mom obtained her associate's degree from the College of Southern Idaho in 1979 and earned her bachelor's degree in English from Idaho State University cum laude in 1984. Mom loved music, art, gardening and most of all playing bridge. She traveled to many places including a trip to her birthplace with her 90-year-old mother and sister in October of 1979. She was blessed with 17 grandchildren whom she dearly loved. Family holiday gatherings filled with song and dance made her beam with pride. Nancy is survived by her sister, Anne Epeldi, Boise; and by her seven children, Grant Deborah Simonds , Boise, Julie Chuck Schwerman, Twin Falls, Alice Sternke, Boise, Gregg Julie Simonds , Park City, Utah, Laurie Alan Olmstead Simonds , Twin Falls, Debra Blackwood, Twin Falls, and Stephanie Brian Olmstead, Twin Falls. Her grandchildren are Jess and Gregg Simonds , Maren and Taylor Schwerman, Ranie Sternke, Seth, Kate, Nancy Jane and Grant Simonds , Emmy and Shelley Olmstead, Callie, Monica and Anne Blackwood and Brinya, Vanessa and Eila Olmstead. All of her grandchildren were very special to her. Nancy was preceded in death by parents, Stella and Julius Mastro and by a very special son-in-law, Dennis Blackwood. A memorial service will he held at 11 a.m. on May 28, 2005, at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension, 371 N. Eastland Drive, Twin Falls, with Pastor Brian Thom officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her memory to the People for Pets Humane Society, P.O., Box 1163, Twin Falls, ID 83303. Arrangements are under the direction of Reynolds Funeral Chapel of Twin Falls. You may own a million dollars But you're the poorest in the land If you don't have your beloved Mom To clasp your lonely hand. Though her smile is gone forever And her hand we cannot touch, Still we have many memories Of our Mom we loved so much, This memory is our keepsake With which we'll never part. God has her in his keeping We have her in our hearts. So you who have a mother Cherish her with care, For you'll never know the heartache Til she's no longer there.

This obit identifies her seven children.

Obits during that period of time were not as common as today. A true obit was usually written by a reporter on a famous/imfamous or victim of crime. A death notice was written by a local funeral home, but was usually just a name and death date; more of an advertisement than an obit. Obits were usually not written as most believed anyone knowing them would know of the death; or the departed hadn't been in the area long; or, just economical reasons.

There were additional clues not identified by the other "researcher", and also some normal errors:

The 1910 census for Milner, Twin Falls County, enumerated 23 May 1910:
--Daniel was 9/12ths in age, based on the enumeration date he was born around August 1909.
--Albert's citizenship identified he immigrated in 1890, the "PA" stands for "Papers", the official term. Not "pending naturalization application". He would have already filed his Declaration of Intention, the initial documents toward naturalization.

The family was enumerated twice in 1920 (that information wasn't made clear, as to why there were two census reports).
---The first, the 2nd day of January by Emma McIntosh at Boulder Farm, Cassia County, ID.
Albert A, age 45, born in Utah to both parents born in Sweden, a farmer, Owned his property.
Lula, age 31, born in Utah to both parents born in the US
Albert, Jr, age 12, born in California (CA) to both parents born in Utah.
Vaness, age 11, born in CA
Raymond 9, born in ID.
---The Second, enumerated 1 February by W.A. Martins at Locust, Cassia County, ID.
Anderson (no first name identified), age 47, born in Illinois to both parents born in Sweden, gen(eral) farmer, owned his farm.
Lula, 32, born in Utah to both parents born in Utah
Albert, age 12 11/12 (by enumeration date, born in Feb/March 1907)
Vanness, 11 6/12 (born about July/August 1908)
Raymond, 9 4/12 (about November 1910).
---why the errors on the two forms? The data depended on who provided the information and the ability of the enumerator. Lula goes from age 31 to age 32, so was she born on a date in January, thus aged a year between the two census? Or just a mistake on the form.

The 1930 Census for Locust, Cassia County, ID
It again shows Albert born in Sweden

Daniel:
Both the 1910 and 1920 Census show Daniel/Vaness as being born about August. Thus, the Daniel Anderson born 2 Oct 1908 found by the other researcher may NOT be the correct person.
----IT Wasn't the correct person:
The Social Security Death Index identifies a Vanness D. Anderson, born July 1909, died 26 December 1991. His "last residence" was in Burley, Cassia County, Idaho.
--a family tree is found containing Vanness:
http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/11543988/person/-443715889?ss...=
His father was identified as being "Shorty" Anderson

Raymond:
--The 1920 Census shows Raymond shows age as 9 4/12, so the Raymond found by the other researcher, born in June, may not be the correct person. Same as the one found in King County, Washington, born 10 September 1911, this person would have only have been 8 in the 1920 census.

Ron Bestrom

I see you've only posted 15 messages, at least under this user name. When you post, post as much information as you can on an individual or family. If you have the Date of Birth, that is EXTREMELY helpful for researchers to find the right person/s. Specifically for this search, you posted in Twin Falls County, do you have any information that has them in Twin Falls County?

The 1920 Census for School District 77, Musselshell County, Montana, enumerated 29 January.
Harve(as spelled, probably Harvey) Edwards, 39, born in Illinois to both parents born in IL, farmer-general farm
Virgie, age 34, born in Indiana to father born in the US, mother in Indiana
Mable H, 17, IL
Delmar R, 14, IL
Ralph, 12, IL
Roy P, 8, IL
Joseph H 5, IL
Herbert D, 1 6/12 (census in January, plus 6 months, born about July), born in Montana.
--Grace C was living in Sumpter, Cumberland County, IL at the time of the 1920 Census.

Delmar Edwards, born 3 Feb 1905, died in Twin Falls in Nov 1972.

The family tree found on Ancestry.com:
http://trees.ancestry.com/pt/person.aspx?pid=-1313246742&amp...=
If you have access to Ancestry.com at home, or at a local library.
This person identified Ralph was born 5 Feb 1907 in Herrick, Shelby County, Indiana, and died 1959.

I am looking for my great grandfather Albert(Shorty) Anderson. His wife was Thisbe Louise (Lula) Allen. He worked on the Milner Dam for a short time, it is beleived he had a team or teams of cattle and may have ran a fresno as work on the dam. He claims to have came from Sweden and was a short man probably at that time arond mid 30's. His wife Lula was a midwife nd also cooked for the men who worked in the camps. They had 2 small sons at that time. After Milner they moved to Cassia Co and worked on farms and with cattle also. If anyone has any info on him it would be appreciated if you would post or email. We have hit a brick wall and can't move on. Thanks Kathy Gibson azgibsonclan@yahoo.com

I have just finished reading your posting and the replies and just wanted to let you know that I am also related to the Twin Falls Boehms and the Nelsons. Carl and Lucy were my husbands aunt and uncle. I have been working on my Boehm family history. When the brothers came over from
Germany they stayed in the Chicago area and them settled in for the most part in Effingham, Shumway and Beecher city and from there one brothers family came to Twin Falls. I would love to share my information with you and learn about the Nelson family.

Rachel, I don't know anything about the Ernest you speak of and the other grandchildren of Ernest and Edith. However, the Ernest that is born in 1906... I have a fair bit of info on him/his parents/grandparents. That Ernest's mother is Sarah Alice Britton, who is sister to my great grandfather. Also, Ernest (1906) and Edith had a daughter named Thada or Theda Jo Hardman. Her life span was from 1934 to 1935, and is buried in the McCullough Cemetery at Stone County Missouri.

I'd love to correspond with you. Please feel free to email me at trunkbranches@yahoo.com

Also, for interest... my Mother and grandparents lived in Carey Idaho. After 1930 it's more difficult to track people.
However, I did find an Edwards Family Tree on Ancestry and sent a note to berr9177 to contact you.

The next best way to find descendants is to find their death dates and request obituaries.
Hi Rita,
I checked the ID Death Index and didn't find Margaret listed there. I was looking for her exact death date.

However, there is a Random Acts Genealogical Kindness volunteer who will look up obits. Go to www.raogk.org, read instructions, choose Idaho, choose Twin Falls and provide him the specifics.

You can use RAOGK to get copies of the others obits.

Also, you can contact the Idaho Genealogy Society, http://idahogenealogy.org/# and ask them if they do research. Their email is idahogenealogy@hotmail.com . Some Gen. Soc's have scrapbooks, newspaper clippings, Polk County Directories, etc.

Idaho is restrictive in that you can't get a copy of a birth cert until 100 years have passed after the birth. You must wait 50 years after a death to get a copy of a death cert which is probably why their death index stops in 1951. Successful Searching!

Thank you so much for your suggestions! I appreciate knowing how best to get information from others that is specifically what I need. I am lucky to have found so much information about this part of my family. Fortunately, I have gleaned my information from the actual children of Ephraim and Margart King. Now all but the two youngest are living, and they were very young when their parents died. So they don't have early, early memories. Also, the close proximity of Idaho has made it possible for us to actually go to the cemetery in which they are buried.
Thanks again for your help!
Rita Birch
