He loved farming and spent countless weekends working the Mansfield family farm and helping his brothers and father in Thatcher. He and Marie enjoyed two years of retirement, travelling in their motor home and enjoying their condo in Jackson Hole Wyoming. Marie passed away August 27, 2000.

He became reacquainted with Helen Lewis and they were married in the Logan LDS temple on November 15, 2003. They lived in North Ogden and enjoyed traveling together to Vietnam, Russia, Alaska and even Malad, Idaho.

Hyrum was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many callings throughout his life. He was a High Priest in the North Ogden 20th ward. He particularly loved serving the youth, helping with some of the very first spook alley fund raisers and planning some of the best youth conferences known to man.
