From the "Kamiah Progress" Feb 14, 1908--Benjamin F. Putman died in Glover Precinct, Idaho County January 29, 1908. He was born December 27, 1846. He lived in Nez Perce, now Latah County near the Cora, Idaho post office. Rev. Thompson of Stites conducted funeral services at Grand View school house. Internment was at COTTER CEMETERY.
Where is COTTER Cemetery in Idaho? Was it renamed? Any information appreciated.

Hi,
I don't see it listed on any of the published lists of cemeteries.

I'd contact the following organization.
Idaho State Historical Society, PO Box 1854, Boise, ID 83701-1854

Idah Genealogical Society, www.idahogenealogy.org

Nez Perce County Historical Society, www.npchistsoc.org/, 208-743-2535

Twin Rivers Genealogy Society, PO Box 386, Lewiston, ID 83501.

You posted in Nez Perce County board. Kamiah is in Lewis County, Cora is in Latah County, Stites is in Lewis County.

The 1900 Census for Moscow Ward 1, Latah County:
Benjamin F(?) Putman, born Dec 1847 in Illinois to father born in Kentucky, mother in Ohio.
Herbert C, son, born Jan 1877 in Idaho to father born in IL, mother in Iowa
Carrol, dau, born July 1881 in Idaho
--In 1910, Herbert is found in Glover, Idaho County, Idaho, where his father died per your article.
--In 1920, Herbert is still in Glover.

Glover received a post office in 1903; but the town under that name no longer exists.

Benj Putman's death is listed as a resource here, for Idaho County:
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~ididaho/master_txt.htm

A volunteer in Idaho County. I'd ask about the location of Glover:
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~ididaho/volunteers.htm
Another volunteer in Idaho County, read the instructions first:
http://www.raogk.org/idaho2.htm

A "Private" family tree on Ancestry.com lists Benjamin Franklin Putman:
http://trees.ancestry.com/pt/RequestTreeAccess.aspx?tid=4247...
WHY do people have private tree's. If this is not your family tree, try to contact the owner, they "may" have more info.

A Public Tree shows Herbert C. Putman, born Jan 1877, died 6 December 1930 in Latah County, ID. It also shows his father to be Benjamin Franklin Putman, born 1847, but died 1937 in Chicago. Someone's data is a problem:
http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/258669/person/-2102859644?ssr...=

My "opinion", he was living in Glover when he died, his son was living there in 1910 and 1920 census. Ask the Idaho County volunteers what they may know about Glover. A lot of towns just disappear, some are vacated due to construction of dams, or destructed by fire, etc. Some are just renamed.

This will take a little work and a little help.
