Thanks for looking. I was able to establish that James and Jennie were married in 1912 in Broadwater County Montana. The Census was indeed difficult to read. Actually James did have a first marriage to Winnie and had a son named Blair instead of a daughter named Clara!

I have 2 conflicting birthdates for James. The one from his draft card giving an 1884 birthdate and the one from his daughter Dorothy's birth certificate that gives his age as 28 (1914-28 = 1886) and birthplace as Montana instead of Kansas. I'm hoping that his marriage certificate from Broadwater will give me additional facts to clear this up.

Jennie was in Tacoma City Jail in 1930....that would make an interesting story if I can ever find the arrest records...
