Looking for Bear Creek Cemetery

I have a death cert listing a McGraw baby (d/o Wm Lester & Mary Hecht McGraw) that was buried in Bear Creek Cemetery (Moscow)on 5 Oct 1922, but can't locate a cemetery by that name. Does anyone know if its just a homeplace burial location, or maybe the name was changed on the cemetery????? ANY help will sure be appreciated!!

Clara Harrington was the mother of Ruth Belinda Shaw, who Married John Ray, the son of early pioneers who settled in St. Paul, OR. They owned Owl Drugstores in and around Portland. They had three children, John. Larry (lawrence) and Mary Jane. Larry was my biological father but I grew up with Ruth and Clara. John died at a relatively young age of a rare blood disorder. Ruth remarried (twice).

I am the great grand daughter of Clara Shaw and was raised by her in Klamath Falls, Or. I can clarify some of your questions. It is true that Clara and James moved to Idaho and there had children: Frank, who graduated from Stanford and married Bess and lived for many years in Long Beach, WA., where he taught school and raised beautiful show goats. I spent a lot of time there and have fond memories of playing with the goats. He had children but all I remember about them is that they were named Kevin and Kyle.
Beta was reported to have died when thrown from a horse in a rushing river where he was trapped in a natural rock bridge.
Ruth (Melinda) Shaw was my grandmother. She adopted me but I lived mostly with Clara (affectionately known to friends as "Shazie." As far as I was concerned, she was a saint. She was much beloved by everyone and spent most of her time baking and gardening. Very beautiful, very charming.
Her husband, James apparently left her in Idaho to raise the three children on her own. All of the children were born in Lewiston, and the comment about Nez Pierce territory rang a bell. She supported her family by baking. She delivered her goods on horseback with an Indian friend who provided protection.
It was Ruth who married John Ray, who owned Owl drug stores in Portland. He died at a relatively young age of a rare blood disease, leaving her to raise her three children, Jack, Mary Jane and Lawrence (my biological father)
In any case, It appears that I have a vast database of family history, but I live in Utah and sun is a rare commodity this time of year, so I must get to the garden.

I have found a little more information on Ellis Warren's wives. Ellis and his first wife Mary E. Brown appear to have had two children Frank b. 1883 and Maud b. 1887. Frank appears to have traveled with his step-mother Anna D. Holladay in 1940 to visit W. Brown in Lenore. My grandmother spoke of an aunt who lived in Canada. Maud Warren may have married Fred Wilkey?

NO YOU CAN'T They only have divorce records since 1947.

First, you need to cut down the potential time span from 1930 to 1938. I'd suggest requesting City Directory (Polks) lookups from 1930 which should show them together, until he or she is shown without the other person. Do the same for Baker County (Do you know the town?). This should show her as Beattie Hendrickson if she was there before marriage. (There may not be a Polks Directory for either location). Also see what school records for her children might be found in either location.

Now, Divorce records:

The divorce could have been in any location. I'd start by contacting the Court Clerk for each location and requesting first a name check (if they do the research), THEN decide what documents you need.

If the divorce was final in Idaho, the record will be in Idaho. If the divorce was final in Oregon, the divorce will be in Oregon.

Latah County Divorces (1933-1938)

They were residents of Latah County, Helmer Precinct, during 1930 census, but may have moved to Baker County, Oregon before divorcing.

This year is the 150th anniversary of LDS Pioneer Elizabeth Russell Archibald's immigration to Utah.

Many people in Utah and Idaho are descended from Thomas and Elizabeth (Russell) Archibald. Thomas Archibald died in Scotland but Elizabeth Russell Archibald came to Wellsville with several of her children. Some went to Idaho and some went to Canada.

A family reunion for all descendants of Elizabeth Russell Archibald is being planned for Saturday, Sept 8, 2012 at the Wellsville, Utah bowery by cousin Brandon Sundeen. He is planning games for the younger children, sharing of family history info for the adults, followed by a memorial service at the Wellsville Cemetery. Food is POT LUCK. Bring your own lunch and all will share what they bring.

If you have any family heirlooms, photos, letters, etc.. pertaining to Elizabeth Russell Archibald or her immediate family, please bring them for viewing.

I am wondering if you have any information on Ransom Warren's brother Ellis? Ellis was married first to Mary E. Brown daughter of James William Brown and Martha J. Carper. After her death he married Anna D. Holladay daughter of John Q. Holladay and Ann Hayes. I am related to both of these women, who were early settlers in the Cavendish-Teakean and Southwick areas of Idaho.

I haven't found death information for either Ellis or Anna and there does not appear to be children from these marriages.

thanks for your reply. I have a Margaret Whalen married to an Everett Nye, so I assume that that is your grandmother.
If you are at all interested I have some photos of her father James Whalen's family, as well as a bit of family history.
James Whalen moved west from Allamakee Co., Iowa in the late 1800s, but there are still a number of his siblings and cousins descendants living back there, even on the home farm his mother purchased in 1856.

My name was Michael Chamberlain. I am the grandson of Margaret Marie Nye and Robert Yount. Margaret was a Whalen. I was born with no given name only that of Baby Boy born to Pamela Yount. I was then assigned the Chamberlain name growing up. I changed my name when I married the second time.
My grandmother passed away in 1990 in Pendleton, Oregon. The only relatives left are one daughter and several grandkids and great grandkids. Her brothers and sisters are all deceased. I do not know about there children.

I searched Ancestry and FamilySearch and didn't find Sarah's parents and siblings. I also searched the Census records hoping that one of them lived with Sarah and Almon but no such luck.

If the Informant at the time of her death knew, the parents will appear on her death certificate. You can order a copy from the Latah County Clerk/Auditor/Recorder's Office, www.latah.id.us/clerk/ .

They might be mentioned in her obituary. There are two obituary volunteers at freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~obitl/volid.html

Choose ONE volunteer at a time.

The name of her parents MIGHT be on her marriage certificate which is filed in the marriage book at the Nez Perce Co. Courthouse in Vol. E on page. 19.

I also found the Woodward Family Tree, trees.ancestry.com/tree/26191875/person/12063917124 . Most larger libraries provide free access to Ancestry. It does contain Sarah, Almon and their children but her parents aren't listed. I thought you might want to contact the owner. Successful Searching!

Wm & Mary Hecht McGraw are both buried in the Wild Rose Cemetery, near Kendrick, Idaho. There is also a McGraw child born 1921, died 1922 buried in this cemetery. Pictures are posted of tombstones. Go to find a grave website. You can get to the info from a search of the name McGraw, Idaho, Latah County, or by searching for the Wild Rose Cemetery. Wild Rose cemetery is located near "Bear Creek".

Walter George Smith obit, November 1935

I was hoping to acquire the obit for Walter George Smith via the Google newspaper archive feature as I have for many others in Idaho, but unfortunately there appear to be no issues available for November 1935.

His first and middle names were often used interchangeably. He was born May 15, 1870 in Oregon. He died November 15, 1935 in Potlatch and was buried in Freeze cemetery. His wife was Mattie Smith (Sisk).

Any help with an obit would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

In the book "Moscow at the Turn of the Century" on page 19 Dr Blake is listed as one of the people of Moscow Idaho at the turn of the century.

Quoting the paragraph " Dr H. B. Blake, a graduate of of Oxford University and one of the first physicians in Moscow, married the half-sister of Lillie Lieuallen Woodworth's mother and was the father of Mrs. Charles Summerfield (Nellie Blake)."

Lillie's mother was Sarah Ann Good, and married Almond Asbbury Lieuallen 4 Jul 1871 in Lewiston, Nezperce, Idaho. Who are her parents, siblings?

Ione A. Jaynes, wife, white female, age 31, first married at age 17, born Missouri, father born North Carolina, mother born Tennessee.

Hi, my name is Anna Schnellbacher and my Great-Grandfather was William Edward Dillingham. His mother was Helen Marr Cooper and his father was Francis Dillingham. Are you living in Annapolis? If you are that is so great. I simply cannot get there because I cannot leave my husband alone due to his blindness. If I could I would have gone to St. Anne's Cedar Bluff years ago. Helen Marr Cooper my Grandfather Harry Elmer Suit his father was George Washington Suit and his Wife was Elsie Dillingham Suit her Mother was Helen Marr Cooper- Dillingham. When the weather gets a little better I'll try to find her grave. Helen,s father was Capt. William Cooper.

I don't live in MD. I'm out west. Can you email me a copy of Helen's death certificate? Email me at: hotrodgrandma3@yahoo.com. I would also be very interested in any info that you have that I may not have, which is: Husband #2- Capt. Harry Spencer, died 1893; husband #3- Frederick Segelken: no other info. That's all I have on her other husbands, plus I have that she had no children with the 2nd and 3rd husbands.

Helen is also my GG Grandmother. My Uncle Charlie Martak, Helen's G Grandson, said in 1999 about Helen, "Outlived her third husband, Frederick Segelkin, and spent her last years in a hospital/institution."

Helen was married three times. Her names were Helen Cooper for maiden name. Helen Dillingham, Helen Spencer and finally Helen Segelken. I believe she is buried at St. Anne's Cedar Bluff in Annapolis, MD.
Are you in MD? I am in Texas so I can't go to the cemetery to find her grave.

Helen was born Feb 9, 1843 in Boston. She was my GGGrandmother. She died July 23, 1928 and is buried in Annapolis, MD. I have her death certificate.

What name is listed on her death certificate? I haven't been able to find the certificate on ancestry. Also do you have a family tree?
