On the listing of Latah Co., ID. Cem. records, transcribed by the Latah Co. Genealogical Society, in 1981 --- Moscow Cemetery Old Section Block 5 page 13, row 10 con't shows Row 11 number 7. Holden Wm. R. Holden (no other information)

This is William Riley Holden, born 2 Sept 1826 in Wayne County, Tennessee. He was the son of Joshua Holden and Mary Talley. William Riley Holden married Jane R. Gustin , born 26 March 1830 Brown Co., Indn, the daughter of Thomas Gustin and Mary Peterson. William Riley Holden and his wife, Jane R. Gustin were pioneers in Utah, arriving there in 1847, in the first group behind the original group led by Brigham Young. They moved to Staley, WA about 1876, and to Moscow, Idaho about 1886. The obituary of Jane R. (Gustin) Holden, published Moscow, ID Nov. 28, 1905 stated that she owned the first hand loom, and turned out the first piece of hand-woven cloth in Utah.

William Riley Holden and Jane had twelve children :
1. Mary Jane Holden, born 16 March 1850 at Manti, UT married Joseph Calvin DePartee. She died 1940 at Richland, WA and is buried at Moscow.
2. William Alma Holden born 19 Feb 1852 at Nephi, Juab Co., UT. M/1 Cora Alice Hodges

M/2 Margaret Marie Gilstrap and had five children. At least two daughters are also buried at Moscow Cem, as well as he and Margaret.
3. Elizabeth Holden born 24 May 1854, married James DePartee, borther to Joseph C., above.
4. Joshua Holden , born 31 Aug 1856. Married his first cousin, Cemantha Lurana Holden, the daughter of John R. and Cemantha Ann (Russell) Holden, who also lived and died in Moscow. Joshua died 1893 and is buried next to the graves of his parents in the Moscow Cemetery. His headstone is a handmade, upright stone, of poured cement, and hand -lettered. Joshua died leaving a young wife with four children, and expecting another.
5. Catharen, or Katherine Holden. Born 5 Dec 1859. Married a Mr. Hately or Hatley, and lived in Latah Co. Called "Aunt Cattie"
6. George R. Holden born 6 Dec 1861
7. Susanna Holden, born 7 Mar 1863. Married John Gilstrap of Moscow, Idaho
8. Rosetta Holden, born 9 April 1865
9. Emmely Holden, born 7 April 1867
10. Lurana Holden, born 1 March 1869 Married "Sim" Buchanan
11. Lodema Holden, born 15 Nov 1871
12. Sarah Francis Holden, born 23 Jan 1873, married a Mr. Brown. Called "Frannie". May have moved to Washington State.
