I checked the Coeur d'Alene Press (The local paper) from October 23rd to the 28th and there was no obituary listed in the paper. I also checked the on line obituaries for the two funeral homes in the area (Yates Funeral Home and English Funeral Home). No obituary was listed. I would suggest waiting until after the holidays and then asking the family members.

The body was discovered about 9 a.m. Tuesday by Steve Spotanski and John Peterson of the First Security Bank, Coeur d’Alene when they came to the house on business.

The funeral arrangements are pending at English Funeral Chapel.

The Coeur d’Alene Press Thursday October 18m 1973 Page 10 Column 1

John M.
The link provided is wrong...quite OFTEN the case.

The correct: http://cdalibrary.org/

Shirley was identified as living in Harrison, ID, a small town (pop 203 in 2010). She was also known to be living in Kellogg (with family?). She was shown as being 85.
--The address in Kellogg is shared by 365 persons, with various town names following: 1 1/4s Rt 3 Bx 3 628. One being a William Bunton.
--The address in Harrison was identified by one source for 1989.

The logical newspaper for an obituary is the Couer d'Alene press; a search of the online obituaries did not produce one for her. Many elderly do not have obituaries published due to many reasons: length of time in the community, health issues, personal desire, family wishes, movement away from home of record, etc.
--The most logical senior home would have been in the Couer d'Alene area.

I checked the Obituary Daily Times, a database of obituaries published, email data send twice daily of new obit locations published. No information was found.

You may know where she was living with family, if so, or at another location.

I understand as well. I appreciate you getting back to me in a timely fashion. This is a part of our family about which we knew NOTHING. In fact, it was kept from us either by neglect or design; so I hope you understand the level and intensity of my concern and anxiety. I certainly have some understanding not only about this young college student's curiosity, but also about any reluctance or hesitancy on his part. Learning about the unknown parts of one's extended family can be a big daunting. Please express to him my regards as well as my ability to understand and appreciate at some small level his concerns. If I understand how Ancestry.com works, you should have access to my email address. I do not have yours, as I do not have a “paying account.” Ancestry.com has billed members of my family improperly, so I have been reluctant to give Ancestry.com access to any billing information that would result in improper charges that they would not expeditiously rectify. Please feel free to give my contact information to this young man and his father. That would leave it in their hands and allow them to make decisions based on their level of comfort and curiosity. I did not realize until last night that our father had TWO brothers that we did not know about. It has finally occurred to me that your contact might be related to one of these men. Again, I appreciate you getting back to me in a timely fashion. There are three of us in our family that are genuinely curious and desirous of learning more about our unknown connections with the Best Family of CDA, Idaho. My older brother is named Hepburn, named after our father, and my first name is Charles, I suspect I was named after Charles Augustus Best. Was “Hepburn” Bessie's maiden name? Looking forward to hearing from you further at your convenience. My kindest regards...

I understand. There is no scam at all- just one of my grandson's friends who wanted to know more about his family. I would be happy to give you his name, but am not sure he would agree. He's a college student and at present is on his way back to school. Maybe he would suggest that you contact his father who is living in Nevada.

In reply to your query. Yes Both William (Will) or (Bill) Carter and Hattie are buried in Post Falls, as are the Butterfield parents. Not so very far from each other as it happens. As they are my grand parents I tend to visit the grave sites as time and situation allows. Lois I. Carter (Medley) is there as well. Bessie, my aunt, is buried, I believe in Clarkston Washington.
Reguards, Loren Medley
In re-reading your information it looks like the information for my aunt Bessie should be that for her mother. Both my aunts' birth date and my mothers' birth date appear to be correct.

This year is the 150th anniversary of LDS Pioneer Elizabeth Russell Archibald's immigration to Utah.

Many people in Utah and Idaho are descended from Thomas and Elizabeth (Russell) Archibald. Thomas Archibald died in Scotland but Elizabeth Russell Archibald came to Wellsville with several of her children. Some went to Idaho and some went to Canada.

A family reunion for all descendants of Elizabeth Russell Archibald is being planned for Saturday, Sept 8, 2012 at the Wellsville, Utah bowery by cousin Brandon Sundeen. He is planning games for the younger children, sharing of family history info for the adults, followed by a memorial service at the Wellsville Cemetery. Food is POT LUCK. Bring your own lunch and all will share what they bring.

If you have any family heirlooms, photos, letters, etc.. pertaining to Elizabeth Russell Archibald or her immediate family, please bring them for viewing.

For more details contact Brandon Sundeen. Phone: 503-396-2178 OR email: brandonsundeen@gmail.com

Please help us get the word out. I do know there were several obits for Koffels in Bonner County. The county seat there is Sandpoint. I will have my mother check the newspaper there tomorrow to see if there was a death listed.
She isn't one of my Bennetts or Sneads, but I found that she was b. ca. 1850 in NY (3 of 4 censuses). 1870 census of Pittsburgh, Allegheny, PA, says she is d/o Stephen & Elizabeth Bennett. Ancestry.com tree/26227001/person 1836011565 says she m., 28 Feb 1871, PA, Robert Snead.
1870 census, Freedom, Beaver, PA, says Robert is s/o John & Margaret Snead. Laura & Robert are in Allegheny Co. for 1880(Pittsburgh), 1900 (Stow), & 1910 & 20 (Crescent) censuses. Coraopolis is also in Allegheny County.

1940 road map, Kootenai Co., ID

I did, at last, find the family of Fred Salisbury in the 1940 census of Kootenai Co.,ID. We were on Hwy 95, in the Squaw Bay Election Precinct.
Out of political correctness, Squaw Bay was renamed Neachen Bay. I'm looking for a 1940 road map to narrow the location of Hwy 95.
Oh, if anyone can give me the background of the name "Neachen", & when the name was changed, I'd appreciate that.
