I am looking for a newspaper in St. Anthony, Idaho for the year 1913. Christian Olof Anderson was killed in an elevator accident on 8 or 9 Jan 1913. I would love to read a newspaper account if there is one.
Thank you.

Hello, Found death information via findagrave.com re: Ada Ruby Larsen Isenburg. Died 23 Apr 1919 in Long Beach, LA County, Calif. Buried, Sunnyside Cemetery, Long Beach. Lists Ruby as wife of C.R. Isenburg, druggist, Ashton, ID and survived by parents Mr. & Mrs Hans Larson, Idaho Falls. No mention of baby daughter, Ruby Alice born 10Feb 1918 died 28Jan 1999. Larson/Larsen spelling continues to plague but all the other information clicks into place. Am following this for a friend, Rubys' granddaughter.
contact me at marie.ann@comcast.net

Divorce records are NOT in the County Recorder's Office, they are in the County Clerk's Office, 151 W. 1st North, Saint Anthony, ID, 83445, (208) 624-7332. Court Clerks record COURT actions.
--The County Clerk and Recorder has the marriage records, same address, room 12, phone 208-624-3148. County recorder records deeds, liens, marriages, power-of-attorney, etc.

In my research, I'm sure I've included facts you already know:

The 1930 Census of Rupert, Minidoka Co, ID
Clyde Isenberg, age 37(1892/1893), born in Nebraska to father born in Germany, mother in Nebraska, Druggist/Drug Store, first married age 23 (1915/1916) (circa 14 years prior).
Erma, age 36, born in Kansas to both parents born in Tennessee. First married age 27 (circa 9 years prior/1920/1921).
Ruby A, 12,
Mary J, 7
Betty, 5. All children born in Idaho.

The 1920 Census of Ashton, Freemont Co, ID
Gus A Isenburg, age 53, born in Germany, proprietor/drug store
Jennie, 50, born in Nebraska
Clyde R, 27, born in Nebraska, Widower. He registered on June 5, 1917 (National Registration Day). He was living and working in Ashton.

CA Death Index:
Clyde Ray, born 8/4/1892 in NE, died 25 April 1946 in Los Angeles Co., mothers maiden name Betche.

Both Gus (death 1935) and Jennie (death 1946) are buried in the Pineview Cemetery, Ashton.
Hi,

I found where Clyde married a second wife.
Clyde Ray Isenburg, 21
Residence: Ashton, Fremont Co., ID
married in Salt Lake City 1 Aug 1922
Erma Lee Fox, 21
Residence: Lamad, Ponnce, Kansas
Certificate #AO40182, FHL No. 429,119
Source: Western States Marriage Record Index.

I haven't been able to find anything about Ada neither her marriage or death. Maybe her death wasn't included in the death index. The state of Idaho began collecting death information at the state level in July, 1911.

Death certificates are on microfilm at the Idaho State Historical Society Library and Archives, www.history.idaho.gov/archives-research-requests.

There is always the possibility that they divorced. Divorces are handled by the local district or probate court. Contact the Fremont County Recorder if they have divorce records that early. Successful Searching!

Hello,
I just ran across your post, and would like to correspond further with you regarding the Inman family. Are you a relative of the Thomas Eddy Inman who lived in Phoenix? I met with him several times in the 1980's while living in Tucson. I realize that it was Jesse Bowers Smith, but simply made a mistake when writing my post. Please contact me at your convenience at inman.gregory@yahoo.com. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Greg Inman
4625 Explorer Drive
No. 201
Melbourne, FL 32904

I don't know if you've located an obituary. You indicated looking for a William "R" Holcomb. The Social Security Death Index identified the person also as "R." However, his gravestone/info shows him as William Newton Holcomb:

http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=ho...;

James Mitchell's wife's name was not Grace Bevin. It was Jesse Bowers Smith. He was only married to one woman and I knew her until she died in 1975. She was my grandmother.

Judy/Ron

Many thanks for that info

I'm sorry I didn't give more information as it was more of a general query to find out which details might be in the records

In future I'll make sure that I post everything relevant to the query

Probably the best way is to list my Blackhall website at

www.btinternet.com/~jimreidford

Ron - The Lewis Blackhall I am intersted in was indeed born
Lewwis Chalmers Blackhall 6 July 1880 in Ontario, Canada to James Blackhall & Louisa Chalmers and died 27 August 1910 Big Springs, Fremont, Idaho.

I have him in the following census

1881 age 0 in Toronto City, Ontario
1891 age 10 in York West, Ontario
1910 age 29 in Fremont Idaho

I have found no trace of him in the years between 1891 & 1910 and no trace of his marriage although his first child that I am aware of was born Lewis C Blackhall in 1905 in Idaho.

I have no further info on his wife

But I'll follow up on the pointers given by yourself and Judy

Many thanks Jim
The 1910 Census for St Anthony, Fremont Co, ID, enumerated April 16.
Lewis C Blackhall, age 29(circa 1880/1881), born in Canada to both parents born in Scotland, immigrated in 1901, immigration status "PA" which means "papers" indicating he had filed his declaration of intention to become a citizen. He was a bookkeeper/Forest(?) service.
Anna M, age 29, born in Canada to both parents born in Canada
Lewis C. Jr, age 5, born in Idaho
--a book identifies a life insurance policy was paid in St. Anthony for Lewis C. Blackhall in the amount of $1,000.00, in the week ending 10/22/1910.

I find three family tree's having a Lewis Blackhall. They show his birth in 1835 in Moray, Scotland, son of Cosmo Blackhall and Janet Thomson. They show he died on 20 July 1910, but location unknown.

His gravestone:
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=bl...;
This identifies THIS Lewis C. Blackhall as born July 6, 1860 and died August 27, 1910. He is buried in the Saint Anthony Cemetery, Fremont County, ID.
--Now is this a different person than the one in the 1900 census, or did they make a mistake on year of birth, 1860 instead of 1880?

There are two other Blackhall's found in the cemetery:
Mona, born June 9, 1907, died April 30, 1908, dau of L.C. and Maude Blackhall.
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=bl...;
Jack, born unknown, died unknown. (Possibly a child of theirs).

That is your first step, contact the cemetery for any information they have.

It appears to me the person in the 1900 Census and the one found in the cemetery are the same person, with the error in the stone.

I searched the 1901 Canadian Census, without success. They may have emigrated before it was enumerated.
I searched the databases of British Columbia, no marriage identifiable to criteria.
I searched a number of other Canadian sites, but without specific information as to where they came from, search impossible.

Idaho holds birth certificates as confidential for 100 years, Death Certificates for 50 years (so at this point you are okay). The State did not hold the records until July 1911, so you would have to contact the COUNTY Clerk (Not Court Clerk) / Recorder
http://www.co.fremont.id.us/departments/clerk/index.htm

In the future, present the information you have on your persons. Identify known dates of birth, dates of death, places of birth, etc. It prevents a volunteer from having to start from scratch. You may have what I found, I didn't and needed the research for the investigation. Do you know what happened to the wife after the death of Lewis?

Ron Bestrom
Tacoma, WA

Hi,
Hopefully you have the exact death date of Lewis and then you can request a copy of his death from the Fremont County Herald Chronicle, 44 N. Bridge, St. Anthony, ID 83445, 208-624-4455. His obituary might have her maiden name.

Check with the Fremont Court Clerk/Recorder, 151 West First North, St. Anthony 83445, 208-624-7401 and ask if th emother's maiden name appears on the child's birth certificate. It does in other states but I'm not sure about Idaho. Successful Searching!

Hiya

Many thanks for this information which confirms some of the information I already had but fills in some of the gaps too. And I think makes us 4th cousins once removed!

When Sarah left England with her youngest children she left behind her eldest six or seven children as they were either married already or in employment. Her eldest, Francis did follow her out later with his family, but I'm not sure about all the others.

I have also tracked her family back another five generation to the early 1600s. They were still in Nottinghamshire, which is my home county, so if you need to know anything about her earlier life or the rest of the family, just let me know.

Karen :-)

I am a direct decendant of Sarah Chantry. I am her g-g-granddaughter. She came to the U.S. following the death of her husband, bringing with her their 4 children and her sister-in-law, Jane Rawson. She and her husband joined the LDS church in 1851 so she immigrated to Utah in Sept. 1868.Her children who came with her were:Samuel, age 10(my gr. grandfather), Hannah Maria, age 6, Thomas, age 3, and baby Harry, age 9 months. She lived in Plain City, Utah, until her death September 2, 1902. My grandfather, Samuel, moved to Fremont County, Idaho. He married Amanda Ellen Hiatt. They eventually moved to the Rupert, Idaho area where he died in 1919 of consumption. I have a copy of an old photo of Samuel. He was a rather handsome gentleman- black hair, blue eyes and a huge handle-bar mustache! Hope you find the info interesting!

Hi,
When and where were Boyd and Margaret born?

The most recent Census that is viewable by the public was the 1930 Census. Finding family members after 1930 is more difficult. An obituary is usually a good source of information. To find their obituaries, you must know when they died.

You can search the the Idaho Death Index but you have to search through each county. Go to www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~idgenweb/deaths/search.htm .

You can search through the Social Security Death Index, http://ssdi.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/ssdi.cgi ,however, Reynolds is a common surname. This is where knowing the birth date helps. Successful Searching!

I am wondering if someone could look up an obituary for me for my 1st cousin, Clyde Raymond Garrett. He died 25 Nov 2005 in Saint Anthony, Fremont, Idaho. His obituary was listed in the Post Register, Idaho Falls Idaho, 27 Nov 2005, pg C-3. It also had a picture of Clyde Raymond Garrett. His wife is/was Tressa Isabella Murdoch. I would appreciate help.

According to Claude's grandaughter (daughter of Claude's daughter Claudina), Claude left Canada at the age of 12 to escape abusive parents. I don't know where he was before the WWI draft of 1917.

According to Claude's grandson (son of Claude's daughter Claudina), Claude spent much of his time at the pool hall.

Claude passed away in October of 1969. Does anyone have access to Fremont County newspapers?

I do not know when Claude's wife, Afton, passes away.

In 2007 I was able to locate info about the children, Walter & Roy Wilson, of the photo. They did not live in Kaufman, Fremont Co., ID, but their photo was taken in Kaufman, Kaufman Co., TX. Their great grandparents were Joseph P. WOODRUFF & Elizabeth (INMAN) WOODRUFF. Grandparents were Albert H. WOODRUFF & Matilda Ann (CARTER) WOODRUFF of Franklin and Barry Cos., MO. Parents were David M. WILSON & Martha Ann (WOODRUFF)WILSON. David M. WILSON lived in Kaufman Co., TX prior to his marriage to Martha A. WOODRUFF in Barry Co., MO. David & Martha (WOODRUFF) WILSON lived in Caddo, Bryan Co., OK at the time of death of one son, Roy WILSON, about 1917. David & Martha (WOODRUFF) WILSON are buried in Caddo Cemetery, Caddo, Bryan Co., OK Suzanne Sellers

John McArthur

I need the death certificate of John McArthur for a family history class I am taking. He was my 2nd g.grandfather. John died in Fremont County (Willard?)on 29 or 30 August 1913. It is very expensive to order the death certificate on-line, and it is available on FHL US/CAN Film 1513542. It takes months, however, to order film from SLC. Does anyone have access to this film? Any help appreciated.

I would love to know his parents' names!

He lived with another family in the Fremont County 1920 Census.

He was married to Afton C Briggs (daughter of James Lorenzo and Mary Jane NAYLOR Briggs) in Rexburg in 1922.

He lived with his wife and 2 children in the Fremont County 1930 Census. His daughter is still living; I don't know about his son, or if he has other children.

Thank you for your help!
Josie Evans
