Wynn C. Whitehead died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, at his home in Prescott Valley, Ariz. He was born March 1, 1946, in Franklin, Idaho, to J. Hoyet and Eva Chatterton Whitehead. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Debra J. Whitehead; and a beloved brother, Allan “Red” Whitehead.
He is survived by his daughters, Penny (Darrell) Stewart, and Wendie Johnson; two brothers, Jerry (LaRie) Whitehead, Ted (Bev) Whitehead; and his little sis, Nancy (Jerry) McPheeters; step-children, Donavon Stark, Heather Pearson, June Stark, Shane Booth, and Eric Booth; and many nieces and nephews.
Wynn was raised in Franklin and graduated from Preston High School in 1964. He joined the US Navy-Seabees construction division and served in Vietnam. Wynn worked in mining and construction, always finding time to be creative with leather, wood, stones/ gems, poetry, and creating fishing flies. He inherited his mother’s greenthumb and grew a beautiful garden even in the Arizona desert. Wynn loved to fish and hunt and spend time in the great outdoors. Red is probably showing him the best fishing holes in Heaven.
A graveside service and interment will be held at the Franklin, Idaho, Cemetery, Saturday, March 17, 2018, at 9:30 a.m. All are welcome to attend.
