Marilyn Mitchell Kay
1930 ~ 2018
Marilyn Mitchell Kay, age 87, passed away February 3, 2018 in Bountiful, Utah. She was born to Rulon and Golda Mitchell September 30, 1930 in Salt Lake City, Utah. After Marilyn graduated from Preston High School in Preston, Idaho she attended Utah State University in Logan, Utah. Marilyn met her husband, Blaine J Kay, at a dance in the Persiana Dance Hall in Preston during the spring of 1948. They were married later that same year on December 29th in the Logan LDS Temple. Blaine was the love of her life and she often referred to him as her "Prince Charming."
Marilyn was adored by all who knew her. She was patient, humble, kind and had a smile that would light up a room. Her heart and her home were always open to friends and relatives. She loved her husband and her family deeply, in fact she loved all living things and delighted in her flower gardens and the wildlife that would visit her yard. Marilyn was an artist at heart, her mediums included fiber art, oil painting and flower arranging. She was an avid reader and especially enjoyed studying LDS Church history. She compiled volumes of genealogy for her family and for her husband's family. She spent many years as an active member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
Marilyn is loved and missed by her family. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Dennis of St. George UT, Diane (Gust) of St. George UT, Duane (Jennifer) of Houston TX, and Douglas of Phoenix AZ; her brothers Dale (Grace) of Bountiful, Rulon Nyles (Jo Rae) of Preston, ID, and John Clain (Dorothy) of Weiser, ID; 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be on February 13th at the 20th Ward (102 E. 1400 S.) in Bountiful, UT. Viewing will begin at 11:00 and services at 12:30. The dedication of the grave will be at the Bountiful City Cemetery (2224 S. 200 W.) following services at the ward.
