September 17, 1932 ~ October 20, 2017
Joan left this world peacefully, surrounded by her family on Oct. 20, 2017. Joan was born September 17, 1932 in a log cabin to Emma Gregersen and Arthur Hanrey Hansen of Benicia, Idaho. She lost her father at 13 months old, to a train/automobile accident. Emma later married Fred B. Lund and he raised Joan as his own. Joan had 6 brothers, who she helped to raise on the family farm in Benicia. Joan graduated from Preston High school in 1951. She married Duane Kimball Phippen and they began their family in 1952. Joan and Duane raised 4 children in Brigham City, Utah until they later divorced. Joan then married Jay David Allred (JD) of Garland ,UT in 1978. They mostly resided in the Ogden area. After divorcing, Joan began one of her greatest adventures, moving to California to care for her aunt Metha. She loved the Sacramento and San Francisco Bay area, especially. Joan was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many callings over the years, including a Temple calling. She especially loved her primary callings and the children she got to know there. Joan had a beautiful singing voice and loved to entertain people. She had a special bond with children, and was constantly delighted by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to travel, and never said no to any kind of "retail therapy." Joan was a one of kind. She made many friends every where she went with her "Bright Eyes" and infectious smile. Her sense of humor got her through many tough 11 times. She always said, "We don't sweat the small stuff" and always found something to be grateful for. The family would like to thank the staff at Seasons Assisted Living for the kind and compassionate care she received while there. Joan left us a very happy, fulfilled woman, who took much pleasure and joy from life. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Ernest Hugh Lund and Warren Gene Lund. Joan is survived by brothers, Bernord (Maxine) Lund (Black Foot ID), Ronald (Kay Lynn) Lund, Michigan, Loren Lund (Benida, ID), Gregory K (Donna) Lund (Trenton, UT), her 4 children: Kristine Phippen (Roy, UT), Deann (Brent) Cagle (Plain City, UT), David Arthur (Debbie) Phippen (Brigham City, UT), Kenneth Duane (Tina) Phippen (Farr West, UT), many grandchildren, great grandchildren. Internment will be at the Preston, ID cemetery.
