Fern Wood Sears 10/22/1922 - 08/07/2017 "Together Forever Again" BRIGHAM CITY - Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and friend, Fern Wood Sears, passed away in Perry, Utah, on Monday, Aug. 7, 2017. She was born in Salt Lake City, UT, on Oct. 22, 1922, to Kenneth and Anna Johanna Viehweg Wood. Most of her early life was spent growing up on a farm with four sisters in Clifton, ID, where she learned to work hard in sugar beet fields. She married Dean Clifton Sears on April 29, 1941, in the Logan LDS Temple, where they lived on a farm in Clifton until they purchased a dairy farm in 1958 and moved to Whitehall, MT. She loved Montana and raising her children on the farm. After they sold the farm and retired in 1973, they moved to Logan, UT, to be closer to family, and a temple where they served as supervisors in the Logan Temple Baptistry for a number of years. They loved working with the youth as they came to do baptisms. Dean passed away in 1988, and in 1992 Fern moved to Brigham City and resided here until her death. Fern loved to keep busy. She had many hobbies and collections. She loved to make and send cards every year to all of her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids, as well as many others to brighten their day. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in all the auxiliaries, including Relief Society president several times. Her most cherished time was spent with family. Fern joined her husband and a grandchild, Phillip, who predeceased her, as well as her parents and two sisters, Patricia Beckstead and Naudine Redington. She leaves behind a great posterity, all of whom knew of her love for them and her strong testimony of the gospel. Surviving are her six children, Kenneth (Loretta) Sears, Boyd (Penny) Sears, Lynden (Genelle) Sears, Ronald (Janet) Sears, Kathryn (Dale) Bennion, Janis Sears; 22 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Maxine Fisher and Kenna (Gene) Bell; and one brother-in-law, Lee Redington. The family would like to thank all those who assisted in mom's care. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to the LDS Church Mission Fund or Primary Children's Medical Center. Family graveside service will be held Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017, at Clifton Cemetery, Clifton, Idaho. On Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. there will be an informal get-together for family and friends at the Fishburn Relief Society Room at 105 W. Fishburn Drive, Brigham City. As per Fern's desires no public viewing will be held. Email condolences to .
