Thelma Packer Smith Horton was born in Riverdale, Idaho, where she lived on a farm until she moved to Pocatello to attend high school. After graduating she married Vernal 'Doc' Horton. They bought the original Pocatello Airport building and moved it to Tyhee where they made it their home on a farm with many animals. She had one daughter, Trudy and two grandchildren, Gina and Shane. She loved her job as a bus driver for School District 25. She spent her time taking care of her animals, gardening, playing pinnacle, and loved to visit her second home in Island Park. She is preceded in death by her husband, Vernal 'Doc' Horton and her brother Keith Perry Smith. She is survived by her sisters, Reva and Arden Smith, Patsy and Calvin Kesler, Roma and Boyd Warr; daughter, Trudy Haggard; grandchildern, Gina Will and Mike McTimmonds, Shane and Desere Haggard, great grandchilren, Randall Horton, Shantell and Ben Sorensen, Ridge Parsons, Clint Haggard, Benny Haggard, Dustin Haggard, Jaren Haggard, Kylie Haggard, Reggie Haggard; and two great-great grandchildren Triston Horton and Sampson Horton.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 11, 2012 at 1 pm in the LDS Tyhee Stake Center, 12146 W. Tyhee Rd. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services in the church Friday. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery, Pocatello.
