SWAN LAKE – Orin W. Hatch, 82, husband of Gwen Cottam Hatch, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, surrounded by his beloved family.
Orin was born in Oxford, Idaho, on Oct. 1, 1929, a son of Thompson and Marie Lillian Wayment Hatch. He married Gwenivere “Gwen” Cottam on Nov. 1, 1949. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Aug. 25, 1952. Orin and Gwen were blessed with three children.
He worked at jobs in Blackfoot, Idaho, and Roy, Utah. For the past 30 years he and Gwen have lived in Swan Lake, where he has farmed the land, a job he has loved doing through the years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years; two sons, Warren C. Hatch of Syracuse, Utah, and Allen C. (Susan) Hatch of Oxford, Idaho; and a daughter, Alice (Merrill) Jones of Pocatello. He and Gwen also have 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Orin was one of four children. Also surviving are one sister, Arlene (Delbert) Holden of Caldwell, Idaho, and one brother, Steven (Darla) Hatch of Plain City, Utah. Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Keith W. Hatch.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012, at noon in the Swan Lake LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may visit with the Hatch family on Tuesday from 7-8 p.m. at the church and on Wednesday prior to services from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Burial with military honors will be held in the Oxford Cemetery.
