OGDEN - Terry Paskins, 74, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 23, 2009, in
Ogden,
Utah. He was born May 10, 1935, in
Preston,
Idaho, to Thomas Eugene and Beatrice
McCarrell Paskins and was raised in Treasureton. He graduated from
Preston High School and served an LDS Mission in the southern states, and later married Geraldine (Jerry)
Jenkins in the
Logan LDS Temple on Sept. 25, 1959. He has held many church callings. He has lived in Soda
Springs,
Idaho, and
Logan and Roosevelt,
Utah. After receiving his BS and MS from USU, Paul
Butterfield hired him in 1965 at
Weber State to create an off-campus program at
Weber State through continuing education. His job was to get programs started and turn them over to others to run while he went on to develop new programs. Many of the programs he developed are still running today. He worked with industry, junior college campuses,
Utah Highway Safety Patrol, government, Indian Affairs in four states, Hill Air Force Base and many businesses to develop programs to meet the needs of their people to be held at their locations. He did a two-year feasibility study for the
Utah Legislature to determine the need for motorcycle rider safety courses and set them up all over the state. He excelled in individual sports - archery and tennis, racquetball and handball at
Weber State; hiking and rock climbing, boating and water skiing at Lake
Powell and Bear Lake; and motorcycle riding in southern
Utah before post-polio and Alzheimer's took over his life 12 years ago. He enjoyed many, many family outings in the backyard, on vacations, at the condos and at Lake
Powell. He is survived by his wife and seven children: Tony (Lisa) Paskins of
Pleasant View, Utah; Kaylynne (Robert) Allen of Pocatello, Idaho; Kristeen (Gary)
Wiser of Mendon, Utah; Wendi (Mark) Holland of North Salt Lake, Utah; Teresa (Emil)
Harker of Layton, Utah; Michele (Jason) Greenhalgh of North
Liberty, Iowa; Brittney Paskins of Ogden; 23 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three brothers and one sister: Mac (Terry Lee) Paskins and Kirk (Jean) Paskins of Treasureton, Idaho; Creig Paskins of Ogden; Linda (Frank)
McFarland of North Las
Vegas, Nev.; sister-in-law, Marilyn (Jim) Hill of
Pleasant View, Utah; brother-in-law, Robert (Hilda)
Jenkins of Carbondale, Ill.; and mother-in-law, Wanda
Jenkins of
Ogden. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2009, at the Old Post
