CREEK - Reana Whithead
Christensen, our dear mom, grandma, great-grandma, mother-in-law and friend, returned to her Heavenly Father on Saturday, June 20, 2009, in Inkom,
Idaho. She was 88 years old. She was born in
Preston,
Idaho, on April 7, 1921, to Pearl and John Whithead. She was one of nine children. She spent the majority of her youth in
Preston,
Idaho. Reana was a devoted mother and she belonged to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many organizations in the church. She married J. Lloyd
Christensen on June 14, 1940, in the
Logan LDS Temple. They had nine children: LoRee (Bob)
Gang, of Portland Ore.;
Iva Lou (
Dee) Jardine, of Orem, Utah; Rhonda (
Mack) Low, of West Valley City, Utah;
Paulette Edvalson (deceased); Sonya (Mel) Ray, of
Vernal, Utah; Jay (Joyce)
Christensen, of Pocatello, Idaho; Lee (Sandra)
Christensen, of
Mink CREEK, Idaho; Mary Ann
Christensen, of Phoenix, Ariz.; and John (
Mara)
Christensen, of Inkom,
Idaho. Reana enjoyed life and her family. She had an artistic flair and won grand champion and many blue ribbons at the
Franklin County fairs for her excellent textile painted quilts, bedspreads, pillowcases, dresser scarves, towels and table cloths. All of her daughters received some of these items in their trousseaus. Reana was a great gardener and a good bookkeeper. She had many great qualities of character and was a leader and a mentor. She threw her whole heart and soul into any project she tackled. She was the first in
Mink CREEK to earn a
Golden Gleaner Award. She loved family history and was an integral part of compiling a Cornish Family History Book. Reana helped put on quilts and would tie or quilt them. She made quilts for the daughters, afghans for the sons and grandsons. She even crocheted through her final days. She is survived by her eight children, 38 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren, and a sister, June (Ross)
Rasmussen, of
Preston,
Idaho. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lloyd, a daughter
Paulette, a grandson, a great-grandson, four sisters and three brothers. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at noon in the
Mink CREEK LDS Chapel with
Bishop Kent Egley conducting. Friends may call Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at
Webb Funeral Home, 109 East Oneida, in
Preston, and Tuesday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the
Mink CREEK Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at
